Taking Back licensee from Dead iPad

Remove the device from the scope of the App, and Apple should sort out licensing once APNS does its thing with Jamf at the next sync. 

@wswope When an app license is assigned to a device using Apple School Manager (ASM) or Apple Business Manager (ABM), it is tied to the device's unique identifier. For the license to be "freed" and returned to the pool in Jamf Pro, the device must communicate with the Jamf Pro server to acknowledge the removal of the app and the license.

Since the iPad is not powered and cannot check in with the Jamf Pro server, the app's license will remain associated with the device in the database.

Steps to Address This Issue

1. Force Revoke the License:

• If the app license management is handled via Managed Distribution in ABM/ASM, you may be able to revoke the license manually from the ASM/ABM interface.
• This will release the license from the device without requiring the iPad to check in.

2. Contact Apple Support:

• If you cannot recover the device or license, contact Apple Support or your app vendor. In some cases, they may assist with reallocating the license if you can provide proof of purchase and device unavailability.

By using the ABM/ASM interface to manage the license, you can often bypass the dependency on the device communicating back to Jamf Pro.
