Tracking Mac Apps Update Frequency?

Has anyone determined a way to see how frequently Mac Apps is updating an application on a device? The scenario here is we’ve automated Chrome updates via Mac Apps. This is great and makes us IT admins happy. We have one user who complains his Chrome is being updated “almost daily”. Now I know this isn’t true but I want to capture logs to document how frequently his machine (or others) is updating apps.

Has anyone run into this situation before and seen a solution?

Thanks,

We have many users making that same complaint.  We do not currently have a solution.

Just about any App Packaged and Distributed via Mac Apps is also reportable in the Patch Management dashboard, which will show you a full timeline of each patch definition.  The deployment frequency is defined by how you configured the distribution method in a specific Mac App.

You can limit it to some extent by setting a smart group to the latest patch version and setting the App Installers server to after hours. For browsers, I disable automatic updates and use the manual approval process to release the updates with our normal monthly cadence or for zero days.

You can then have some degree of version control if you disable updates in the browser settings on your clients.
