Trying to restrict iOS 26 but send out iOS 18.7

I used the “Defer software update” function so that our users could not upgrade to iOS 26 since it seems to be killing the battery on our phones. However, I wanted to send out iOS 18.7 for security reasons. I was able to send it out via Software Updates but if our users don’t catch the update prompt the first time it is sent to them, they will hit an error, and they can not install it other than going to General > Software Update which we have blocked.

I was wondering if anyone has reached a similar obstacle and was able to find the best way to proceed. Thank you!

You can issue a DDM command to update to 18.7 and set target deadline.
You can define which OS version to install there.

DDM commands do not obey by deferral restrictions.

Second the DDM command. We ran that with in deferral in place. Moved to 18.7 okay without anyone jumping to iOS 26 so far.

If I defer software updates in the configuration profile how do I send a DDM command to update to 18.7.1? Do I just use Devices > Software Update and specify Download and schedule to install at a specific version? Does this supersede the deferred software updates in the config profile?

Exactly.
