Is there a way to wipe/erase a group of iPads that are in a static mobile device group all at once? Please advise. Thanks!

@peerkim if you view the list of iPads in the static mobile group you can scroll down to the bottom and click the Action button then choose to Send Remote Commands and then you can choose Wipe Device and that should initiate a Wipe Device command on the iPads in the group.

Be aware that erasing iPads remotely with this command causes them to lose their static group membership upon re-enrollment. Wiping the devices "by hand" does not.

@mmcallister Just to expand, this is due to the fact that a wipe from the JSS removes the devices ID from the record & the ID is what is used for static group membership.

Well, AFAIK.

Is there a workaround for this behaviour? It'd be nice if the Static groups were, you know... static.

As a workaround, you can export a list of device serial numbers from JSS before the devices are wiped, and re-import them into the static group after they are enrolled again. We used JSS MUT to do the import but there are some scripts on Github that will do it as well.

Thanks mmcallister, I'll give that a shot.

That said, it'd be great if we could easily stipulate that devices in a Static group be persistent across wipes. Hopefully we'll see that in a future version!
