Has anyone been able to get SCCM 2007 R2 Task Sequence Media (i.e. WinPE) to boot via USB on an iMac? For imaging our dual boot iMac labs we currently use DeployStudio (but are beginning our move to Casper next week) for the Mac side and SCCM for Windows. However, as we only have SCCM 2007 R2 and not R3 or 2012, we don't have the option of pre-staged media. I've seen plenty of posts about how to use pre-staged SCCM media to install dual boot Macs using Casper and WinClone, but to use that we'd need to upgrade SCCM so would like to confirm there isn't another way before we commit resource to that. Currently we use CDs but this is slow, and trickier now given that new iMacs don't have optical drives. We've had to rule out SCCM PXE boot as it conflicts with Netboot and other services on our network. We've previously had no luck getting SCCM USB's to boot on Macs, hence us having to resort to CDs.

I have a user that wants to install AEM 7.1.1 (December '13) on his CS6. I ran Adobe RUM, but he said it didn't update to the 7.1.1 version. I so went back to AAMEE and told it to create an update pkg. The AEM only updates to 6.0.8. So I took the downloaded copy of teh AEM 7.1.1 and told it to add update, but it wouldn't because it wasn't supported by that version of AAMEE.

Is there a way to search for computers by Application version? I want to know which computers do not have Google Chrome version 33. I see you can search by Application but not by a specific version.

I am wondering if anyone has pushed iPad apps with Casper and tried to put them in folders on the iPads? I have a master iPad setup with all of the apps that were pushed with Casper in folders. I backed that up in supervision mode in Configurator and restored that backup to the rest of the iPads. Then I pushed out the apps to the iPads using Casper and they didn't go into folders. None of the folders even showed up. I tried it the other way around where I pushed the apps and then restored the backup and it creates the folders but doesn't install all of the apps or stalls out on them. Has anyone been successful with this? Thanks!

I am new to Casper Imaging. I have successfully created an image and on July 12th successfully imaged a computer using Casper Imaging 8.64. I then modified and recompiled the image and have had mixed successes and failures since then however none of these are showing up in the imaging logs. This makes troubleshooting the failures difficult. I am using the web portal (https://myserver.csd.loc:8443/autorunLogs.html) to attempt to view logs and the logs from July 12 are visible but none of the more recent attempts are. Also, in case it is important, my recent failures have been an apparent failure to create a login account on the new image and a failure to bind to a directory. Without logs or the ability to log in I am unable to troubleshoot further. How can I re-enable the creation of these imaging logs? Is there a server side log that can be referenced to see why the logs are not being created, or are not visible?

Our goal is to collect all the printers listed in the computer details printer window. We know it is in MYSQL. Just need to know which table it is in. When exporting the jamfsoftware printers table from mysql, all we get are the printers that were added to Casper. (network printers) The locally attached USB printers are in computer details with their serial numbers along with any network printers the user attaches to. Has any one been able to export this data? Which table is it in?

I was wondering if anyone has ever automated the Lync login based on the AD account logged into the device? I was attempting to use AppleScript and "Tell Application" to set up the account but Lync doesn't seem to have an AppleScript dictionary. Sincerely,T.J.

I have a problem where the JSS has too many logs saved (I think the default setting was one year), to the point where the JSS/Tomcat hang when I try to view logs for some policies (like the daily inventory policy) and stop accepting incoming connections. I usually have to reboot the server to restore service. What's the best practice for keeping policy logs from backing up to the point where this occurs? How do I safely clear them out if the JSS can't even process them? I'm worried if I change the retention date to 90 days, it will kill the JSS/MySQL.

Hi Folks, I'm very new to JSS Casper so please bear with me for this basic question :) I've a management account & its password defined however I need to change the password so that whenever a new machine gets enrolled, the new credentials should be applied at the new enrolled machine. I created a new Quick Add package through Recon defining a new password but this package is not being picked by self enrollment portal & machine still having the old password of management account. Can somebody guide me how can I change the password of management account in Quick Add package which is being downloaded dynamically through enrollment portal. Do I need to make the changes under JSS-->Computer Management--> User-Initiated Enrollment for Computers or somewhere else? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

With Mac OS X 10.8.5, SSD(!) boot device and Casper 8.64 the console login of a client policy request(?) doesn't teminate: bash-3.2# ps -ax | grep console   75 ??         0:00.13 /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow console or bash-3.2# ps -ax | grep console36678 ??         0:00.46 /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow console This causes no login window screen and happens after reboot and logoff (eventually after login and other policy requests(?), because often there are more then one "loginwindow console" processes hanging with ??). I login via terminal ssh and have to sudo kill -HUP <pid of loginwindow console>. After killing all these processes the login window screen appears immediatly. Any ideas for a work around?

I work at a High School and we need to set up labs for testing. We have a local user account that we need to log in and some testing software to launch. We typically do this to make it easy for the testing coordinators; they just come in and the software is already up. Since I do not want to type the username/password manually on each computer, I want to use a script or command to do this. In 10.6 I just ran these simple AppleScript commands from ARD or saved it as a script and ran it via Remote: osascript -e 'tell application "system events" to keystroke "username"' osascript -e 'tell application "system events" to delay 0.5' osascript -e 'tell application "system events" to keystroke return' osascript -e 'tell application "system events" to delay 0.5' osascript -e 'tell application "system events" to keystroke "password"' osascript -e 'tell application &#0

Has anyone else noticed an issue when uploading Shell scripts via Casper Admin using 9.23? Each time I try uploading one, Admin throws an "error 500" saying that it could not write to the Master Distribution Point, and after restarting Admin, it will show the scripts name but that it is missing. DMG and PKG files are working correctly.

Hi Nation, We are currently using the Required Password preference in Managed Preferences. When the lock screen kicks in, our users see a black screen and must type their credentials to unlock the screen. I've been asked to temporarily re-brand our lock screen. The goal is to replace the black screen with an image. Probably a .jpg. I'd appreciate any tips on how to get this accomplished. Thanks, G Lo

What do we do if we need to increase the JSS licenses for mobile devices. Is there any spill threshold where JAMF will overlook extra 5% or something. How would we increase the No. of licenses like either in blocks of 10 or 20 or we can just increase as we go.

We have installed Trust profile and MDM profile using apple configurator, can we also install configuration profiles using apple configurator ?

Hi, does anyone know whether it's possible to auto setup a default wallpaper image on iPads using Casper?

I am attempting to make a script that will sync Illustrator custom dictionaries. The user will run this via Self Service when they make edits or want to make sure they are current. Here is the script #!/bin/sh #Sync User Dictionaries for Illustrator #Current useruser=ls -l /dev/console | cut -d " " -f 4 #Duplicate current Dictionary file cp /Users/$user/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Linguistics/UserDictionaries/ATE User Dictionary/all/added.txt /Users/$user/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Linguistics/UserDictionaries/ATE User Dictionary/all/BUadded.txt # Cat dictionary file to server stored Dictionary file cat /Users/$user/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Linguistics/UserDictionaries/ATE User Dictionary/all/added.txt /Volumes/Mac_Assembly/NEW_Script/MasterDictionary/addedsync.txt > /Users/$user/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Linguistics/UserDictionaries/ATE User Dictionary/all/addededits.txt # Copy edited file in place of old file. cp /Users/$user/Librar

Sorry for being in the wrong forum. I just want to ask anyone who has encountered "The time zone setting for your computer has changed. Would you like to update the time zone setting for Outlook" pop up, asking you to update your time zone or not even if nothing has changed. This annoying pop up comes in every 10-15 minutes. Thanks everyone.

Some of the staff are using multiple google calendars except their personal google/ email calendar. How can we add multiple calendars on iPad/ iPhone. I have added the calendars to my account using https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect but the calendars are not yet showing up on my iPad/ iPhone. Is configuration profile's exchange setting is not allowing the other calendars to show up or are there more settings that I need to do for Cal Dav in configurations profiles. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have an principal at a school that would like to periodically copy a few files to every teacher's laptop. I would like to have a self service item for him to initiate when he wants. The self service item would copy the files to a server and then flush the logs of a policy that would copy the files to every teacher's laptop when it checked in. Setting up the self service item to copy the files to the server is easy enough, script will make that easy, as is creating the policy to copy the files to every teacher's laptop, another script. What I don't know is how have the self service item flush the policy's logs. The principal does not have access to the JSS database to flush the logs, trying to make this as easy as possible for him. If anyone has any idea as to how to complete this I would be appreciative. If you have an idea on another way to complete this that would also be helpful.

Afternoon everyone,Can anyone clear up my uncertainty....I recently downloaded Mavericks via the App Store using my own own personal Apple ID. I'd like to create a Mavericks configuration and am uncertain whether or not my Apple ID will be permanently linked with Mavericks as it is with other apps. Will users be able to update to the next release of OS X without knowing the Apple ID and password that I used to download Mavericks originally? Thanks,Kevin

I Have 800+ students renaming restricted applications (games) and playing them from the desktop. Each time I block, they rename.Any hints on how I can stop this?

What do the parentheses do when adding criteria to a smart group? What's an example of where you would want them and where you would not?

JAMF recommends to setup one Payload per Configuration Profile. Should this practice be followed even when the iPads are Supervised using Apple Configurator.

Is there a way to automatically flush failed policy logs so that the policy is made available again in Self Service without an administrator having to flush the log manually?
