Is the JAMF binary up-to-date on the machine you're trying to inventory?

the binary on your machine.

Is your server up-to-date with 8.1 as well? You don't want to mix versions
between the applications and the server. Open the Terminal application and
type "jamf help". Use this to get the syntax for updating your JAMF binary
from the server.

We just upgrade to 8.1 this morning and I am also having this issue with the
new Recon. I added a screen shot of the error I get. Anybody out there find
a fix for this yet?

Thanks,
Armando

Just upgraded this morning and getting the same error. I'm sure there is a quick fix for this, I just don't know what it might be.

Thanks.

Just tried that and still no luck. Still getting the connection error: jamf binary failed to install.

Hi Andrew,
I had this same thing going on. I pushed out a known good binary, no help.
Was also seeing a "Bad Username pass" if I tried recon'ing remotely w/ ARD
but could SSH in no problem using the casper SSH account
Pushed out a known good /Library/Preferences/com.jamfsoftware plist- no help
RemoveFramework, rescan- no help
Quickadd- no help
Tested w/ Recon 8.0: same result
Verified "inventory Unix Executables" OFF in my JSS Inventory options: no
help

Dumped the recon report to the desktop: worked OK

Finally on the machine, opened recon w/ option and reset the
server/refreshed the plist and then it worked.

Hope this helps!
Sandy

I have also had a few where they seem to hang at "gathering Application
Usage" and then fail w/ "connection error", so error messages do not
necessarily reflect actual problem.
If I delete the Folder:
/Library/Application Support/JAMF/usage
then everything goes...
I'll have to check back on those to see if they'll gather that data in the
future. Seem

Sandy (et. al.), I am getting the same error as well. It was working fine until I rebooted my Casper server. Now I get the error when trying to RECON. I am already at 8.4.3 and have deleted the JAMF/usage folder.

Still stuck.
Mike
