softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer broken

Anyone else seeing this? softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer returns Install failed with error: Update not found no mater which version is specified.

I've had terrible results with this command since it was released and it rarely works for me. The installinstallmacos.py script is far more reliable. I use it with https://github.com/grahampugh/erase-install even on OS versions that support --fetch-full-installer.
