Web Clips on Shared iPad - Library?

Adding a web clip to a Shared iPad isn't done through Profiles, it's created and managed through Classes > <class> > Apps > Web Clips tab.

But here is the problem, it's done at the Class level. So adding a common web clip for all school shared devices is performed on a per class basis. There's no library concept where you can share your web clip definitions between classes.

So if you have a web clip for the entire school you have to create the web clip from scratch each time for each class.

Now this also extends to inter-school support where you are managing Jamf Jamf School for multiple schools in a particular school system. There are common links that all schools need.

So a library that enables a support provider with the ability to reuse web clips for shared makes a lot of sense. Keep in mind that in a mixed environment where you do have 1:1 school managed and Shared iPads, the library should allow the same payload for web clips to be reused for standard profiles and shared web clips.

So the user experience needs to cover the school scenario and the multi-school support scenario. You You only want to create a web clip (and it's icon once).

There is something, but it's not at the level of managing the Apps on the Shared device.

If you go back up to Classes there is Copy Settings from other Class menu option.

Pay attention to the check boxes selected.

I would have put this functionality for App copy at the same level. You are in the Apps section for a Class so you should be able to copy the layout and apps enabled from another class on at this level - as well.

A handy feature might be to mark your favourite classes so you don't copy the wrong variation.
