This article is based off of the presentation at JNUC given by @tommypatzius , @Jordy-Thery and @glennu

Our session at this year’s JNUC 2025 was designed to present a list of helpful tools available to Mac Admins of all skill levels and backgrounds. We know that everyone’s experience with Apple device management is different, so we’ve pulled together a collection of tools that are approachable, practical, and, in many cases, free. Many of them have a low learning curve, making them accessible whether you’re brand new to managing Macs or have years of experience. Our goal is that everyone walks away with at least one new tip, trick, or tool they didn’t know before.

To make things clear and easy to follow, we’ve divided the tools into categories by function: Apple apps, Jamf tools, maintenance, setup & customization, notifications & support, and inspection tools. We took a closer look at a few specific highlights—Jamf Helper Constructor, Self Service+, and IBM Data Shift—before moving into a rapid-fire overview of additional apps and services. Each tool in this section will include a quick overview and screenshots to give you a sense of how it works.

We also wanted this session to feel approachable and low stakes, especially for those attending in person or watching later. At JNUC, there are so many fantastic sessions that dive deep into advanced topics, and those are incredibly valuable—but sometimes, after a string of highly technical sessions, it’s nice to have one that’s a little lighter while still packed with useful takeaways. That’s the balance we aimed for: accessible, practical, and immediately applicable.

AT JNUC, we wrapped up with a Q&A, where attendees could ask questions and revisit any of the tools we discussed, but folks also share your own favorite tools with the group. The more knowledge we can exchange, the better for all of us!

Please feel free to share any questions or share your favorite tools with the group in the comments section or check out our talk when Jamf shares out the links to the session recordings.

Looking forward to this video (I’ve already complained enough about not being able to be there this year… <harumph>).  I grabbed your resources from the session list already.  Thank you very much for sharing!

Great presentation!
