A Bold Leap Into Apple

It was the summer of 2024 when we were asked to do something our company had never done before. We were going to introduce MacBooks into an environment that had always been 100% Windows. Naturally, questions started flying. How would we manage them? What tools would we need? And, most importantly, how could we ensure the experience was seamless for our users?

The hardware part was easy. We knew we could purchase them from Apple anytime. So, the MacBooks were purchased and ready to go, eagerly awaiting their release into our environment. The real challenge was management and integration. After speaking with our team and several vendors, we made our decision: we decided on Jamf. Paperwork signed, onboarding scheduled, and a new chapter began.

One Year Later: A Transformation We Didn’t Expect

Fast-forward to October 2025, about a year plus, and what a journey it’s been! We’ve faced challenges, learned a ton, and grown stronger as a team. Looking back, we couldn’t have done it without Jamf. And by “Jamf,” I don’t just mean the software or management tool. I mean the people, the community, the training, and the support that comes with it. We started with just a handful of MacBooks; today, 5% of our computer fleet runs on macOS, and we’re set to double that in the coming months. Jojo, our lead engineer, is now a Jamf Certified Tech and is helping the rest of the team become Jamf Certified Associates.

At first, we had no idea what we were stepping into, especially Jojo, who led the charge, but Jamf made the transition surprisingly smooth. From our first conversation with the sales rep to our onboarding sessions with their technical experts, the process was professional, transparent, and collaborative. They answered every question, I mean EVERY question even when we didn’t know the right ones to ask. If they didn’t have an answer, they found one quickly. That trust made all the difference.

JNUC 2024: The Conference That Supercharged Our Journey

Just a few months after we deployed Jamf, Jojo and I attended our first Jamf Nation User Conference (JNUC 2024) in Nashville. The experience was eye-opening. There was so much information, so many sessions, and an incredibly welcoming community. We met other admins, swapped stories, and brought back ideas that improved our Jamf setup almost immediately. Joining Jamf Nation and other Mac admin groups has been invaluable for ongoing learning and support.

From Zero to a Growing Apple Ecosystem

Today, our environment includes Jamf Pro and Jamf Connect, and we’re in the process of rolling out Jamf Protect. Jojo is also developing Blueprints to further streamline deployment. Jamf has enabled us to manage Apple devices efficiently, boost productivity, and offer our users real choice in how they work.

Looking back, what started as an experiment has become a key part of our IT strategy. Jamf didn’t just help us manage Macs it helped us rethink how we support users and modernize our approach to technology. As we continue expanding our Apple footprint, we’re excited to keep learning and growing alongside the Jamf community.

The journey isn’t over, but one thing is clear one year in: Jamf has become more than a tool, it’s a partner in how we move forward. Was that a surprise? Not to me. But if it's not what you'd expect, I encourage you to take the leap forward. You, and your end users, will benefit now, and long into the future.

Shout out to our project lead @JMaximusPrime  who has worked so hard on getting Jamf set up for our organization.
