Hello,


Jamf is running on my MacBook although its not part of any MDM system. I also don't have any profiles installed. How do I get rid of Jamf altogether? Removing it from Applications/LaunchAgents/LaunchDaemons doesn't help, it just reinstalls itself and starts up again.


I can see that there is something when I run `sudo protectctl info` but I don't know what that is? Can this be a left over from migrating from an old mac that had a MDM running? 


Any help is greatly appreciated as the jamf security extension is using all the network bandwidth which is extremely annoying when tethering.

the protectctl command is normaly part of JAMF Protect (https://learn.jamf.com/en-US/bundle/jamf-protect-documentation/page/Command-Line_Tool.html)
JAMF Protect can be used even without using JAMF Pro as your MDM System. They even have some workflow descriptions on how to Deploy and Configure JAMF Protect in other MDM Sytems.

To add a small snippet of info, there are threads in Jamf Nation that will shed some light on how to fully remove jamf from your system. Hint, removal can be done using the jamf binary.

Generally speaking, you want to reinstall macOS to "remove everything installed by Jamf" as removing Jamf's framework and binaries do not remove all the tools installed by Jamf. Jamf Protect has an uninstaller in the web console you and download and run.

I also read you can look at or get the Jamf Protect uninstaller package, from the console.


Then you can also look at the /Library/LaunchAgents for the respective Jamf Protect agent.

Thanks for all the quick replies. It seems that all solutions require some sort of access to an administrative portal.
Or am I missing something on how to get the `jamf` binary or the "Jamf Protect uninstaller package"?

The "Jamf Binary" is a part of Jamf Pro, and can be removed with a terminal command if Jamf is configured to allow that. If not it can be removed from the Devices Inventory Record in Jamf Pro.

thanks for your reply. 


The issue is that I am not part of any Organization and therefore I also don't have an admin. Is there anyway to get the uninstaller somewhere else? 


I would really like to avoid having to wipe my entire laptop.
