Hello !I just read that Jamf Admin will be discontinued for Jamf Pro 11.6.0. I always use this app to add printers in Jamf Pro and it's really easy to do this with it ! Now, without Jamf Admin, I have to change the way I add them in Jamf Pro and I took a look of how it was configured to find how I can manually add printers in Jamf Pro.For the CUPS name, model, location and device URI, no problem. But for the path to PPD file, I have a problem. For example, I have a printer called "Printer HR", CUPS name "Printer_HR", model: RICOH MP C3003 PS, location: Building 2nd, URI: it's DNS name and path to PPD file: /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/Printer_HR.ppd. The problem is: I have no Printer_HR.ppd in that folder. But it works as expected, so how could it work like that ? I have this PPD's name in /etc/cups/ppd, is it this path that I have to use ? In /Library/Printers/..., I have PPDs with the model names of printers (RICOH MP C3003 PS.ppd), not with the name I use (Printer_
When testing an app uninstallation, I deleted a PLIST containing the app's Managed Settings that were originally pushed down by a Configuration Profile. The profile pushed down after the next Inventory Update, but the Managed Settings did not take effect again until I rebooted my computer. My main question is, can other Configuration Profile types be bypassed by similar means? Restrictions, Managed Login Items, Passcode settings, etc?
We are getting ready to roll out Monterey to all our users. During testing we noticed there is a new option under notifications "When mirroring or share the display". When this option is not checked our users are not getting notifications from applications such as Slack. When the option is turned on, notifications come through just fine. Most of our users are connected to an external display. How do we force enable this option on all Monterey devices? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been using Casper for about a month now and we are gearing up for getting all our user's with local user accounts converted to AD. I can see all of the local accounts in details on each machine, but i can't figure out how to report on it. I need to generate a report with all of the local user accounts assigned to machines within a designated department , but i'm not seeing a way to do this thru Casper. Any advice would be appreciated
We have about 270 iPads that will be on carts for teachers to checkout. I've set up several apple IDs but when signing in to iTunes Store (in order for self-service to appear) for the initial set up, I cannot get around putting in a credit card number. "None" is not a payment method option. I only see "None" once I've entered my own credit card information, set everything up, then go back to iTunes Store settings and change the payment method to "None." I've even purchased an iTunes gift card hoping I could put that in instead of my credit card number, but no luck there as well. Advice? Suggestions?
On iOS devices. We are using Jamf Setup with Entra for SSO and shared device iphones and ipads. One challenge I am having is that once a user logs in, they may choose to ignore the passcode requirement prompt over and over.My idea is to scope my restrictions to remain in place till the user sets a passcode. I have a smartgroup with a configuration of Passcode status present. Then set this group for exclusion. The challenge I am having though is that this group doesnt seem to update. Is there a better approach i should be taking?
Hi,I have a problem with my patch management. Most of the software that I am patching via the management has only under 10% of the computers on the latest version with most of them scattered across many different versions. How can I remedy this? My current settings for the Patch Policies are:Distribution method: Make available in SelfServiceUpdates deadline: 7 daysGrace period: 15 minutesShould I use different settings or is the problem somewhere else. Some of the Software is installed on hundreds of Macs.
Hi all,I've been searching and researching if the lockdown status can be retrieved by JAMF and I haven't found anything about it.Do anyone know if it's possible to list this status via JAMF?
I have a FileMaker Pro Server 16 setup (which is suppose to support REST API).I have a cloud version of JAMF Pro. I would like to use REST to GET mobileapplications data from the JSS to FileMaker. Has anyone done this? I am hoping to learn, but it is going slow. I can see how to get the JSON data from the JSS https://myserver.com/api but I cannot figure out how to do this within FileMaker. Anyone want to assist?

Anyone else using JAMF school seeing scripts getting stuck at "installed" ? It seems like the majority of my devices are unable to execute scripts right now, even stuff like echo "blah" gets stuck on "installed" status, this persists across reboots and multiple devices running ventura. Anyone else seeing this
Yesterday I noticed that I am unable to download VPP Apps via Self Service. My users get an instant error when they try to install a VPP App. I did some further investigation an I found some more strange behaviour:#1 Trying to add a new VPP App in Jamf pro. Computer -> Mac Apps -> Add new App -> searching is ok and it will list me items. But when I try to add an App it will result in a timeout#2 I tried to renew the VPP token. When I try to upload it in Jamf Pro Settings I get 500 error. Any ideas?Kind regardsMarc
Hi,the preview of the following post seems to be the topic, I am searching for, but on opening it, I get an error with ID: 5642DCC6. So I open a new one.https://community.jamf.com/t5/jamf-school/unsorted-display-of-apps-by-app-hiding-locking-in-jamf-teacher/m-p/292371After setting app restrictions in the teacher and releasing it manually or automatically after a time period the order of all other apps - also private apps - is not the same as before.Has anybody the same issues and maybe knows how to prevent this?Jamf support is not directly available to us and our reseller can not help in this case. Thanks in advance.
We manage less than 10K Macs, and are seeing 503s weekly. It sounds like we're not the only ones either.
We are in the process of migrating from an on-premise JAMF instance to a cloud one. Not surprisingly, the cloud instance is running a slightly newer version of JAMF than we are (being a university, we try not to do upgrades except during the summer). My problem is, using the JAMF binary from the cloud server, which reports itself as version 11.3.2, all the install-related verbs are just gone. When googling, I don't find anybody screaming about this, so I can only assume that what I'm seeing is not right. But when I do "jamf help", the list of verbs skips from "help" to "launchSelfService". Nothing even beginning with the letter I.There don't appear to be a new set of verbs to replace the install functionality.Especially weird: the uninstall verb is still there!Anyone know what's going on? Is it just me? (Please say it's just me.)Thanks,Lisa.
Hi, folks. I'm trying to create a default home screen layout for iPads, to be applied during enrollment. These are single-user iPads and the general goal is to provide sensible defaults without locking anything down. Unfortunately, the "Home Screen Layout" configuration profile payload locks down the home screen (and dock) completely so the user cannot make any modifications. They can't even move the apps they download from the app store on their own. This would make sense if we were providing these iPads as kiosks for multiple users, but it makes no sense for single-user devices. Is there any way to set a default without locking out user changes? I tried applying and then removing the profile, but when I remove it, the home screen reverts to the default state. According to Apple’s documentation (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/homescreenlayout), “On iOS, this layout is locked and can't be modified by the user.” So I realize this
I thought one of the benefits the Jamf Cloud Services Connection was supposed to provide was the ability to finally manage the icons we've uploaded for self service. If it's there, I'm not seeing a way to do that. If it's not there, is that ever going to be a thing?
Hi everyone! I am the IT responsive person at a primary/secondary school at Spain. We have 100 managed iPADs.I've recently moved from Cisco Meraki to Jamf School.I'm experiencing a problem with certain Apps automatic installation. For example, Bee-Bot and Blue-Bot Apps.Bee-Bot was added to the JAMF account and installed without any problem, but when I try to install Blue-Bot for all the iPADs, an error message is displayed at the iPADs screen. It says: "This Apple ID is not valid to purchase content". I don't know how is the exact translation to english since we received the error message in spanish. So the App is not being installed.I tried adding 200 licenses of Blue-Bot first at Apple Shool Manager, but nothing changed. Please, any idea that could help? Thank you!Jose
Hello,I am just want to know that why I'm experiencing an issue with SSO via Azure. After configuring the connection as described here: Tutorial we have the following situation: - Logon via the "Test connection"-Button from inside the AAD Application Configuration works as expected. The user is directly signed in and reaches the JamF Pro Dashboard- - Login via Jamf Pro Login (jamfcloud.com) simply redirects to the JamF Pro Logon Page. Is there anything which needs to be done to enable JamF Pro to identify, that the user trying to connect is expected to be a SSO-User? Any hint would be warmly appreciated. PartyCityFeedback Survey
Hey, guys. I'd like to disable New Teams in our environment, at least until we can test properly for stability and features. seems this is auto-installing on our Macs. We were able to disable New Outlook (and the toggle in classic Outlook), when that became a thing via config profile and 1 key setting. I have looked, and have not been able to find, a schema for teams. Is there something I'm missing? Below is key that was used for Outlook. Thanks in advance. <key>EnableNewOutlook</key> <integer>0</integer>
Hello everyone,We are currently testing Jamf Connect and we notice on 3 test devices that my name"Murad Jafarly" keeps being created as a folder automatically upon login to the device. We are unsure as to why that is happening. Has anyone seen this before? And if so how can I resolve it?One of the photos should just be the admin folder > stevefosterSecond photo should just be the admin folder > mjafarly
HI we face the issue to install Forcepoint on our Macs, but I can't even install it myself via command line because the HD is read only.So deploying it an masse is even more tedious Anyone out there who has been able to install it on Catalina, and wants to share how? any help is appreciated
Running a managed MBP and iMac and was wondering what a simple solution would be to backup my machines. I realize most of my data is in iCloud (and the cloud) but as of late I've had to reinstall my apps and it's a royal pain - even though some of then were on the App Store some were not and one has to hunt down old serial numbers and find the actual place where you can download the software. I know there is the update feature using firewire cable but I will need to do a fresh install as it's a new MAC.I'm thinking a simple TimeMachine backup may be ok, was wondering if superduper (I don't really need a notable backup) would be ok too as I've used that before. I know these backup solutions work great but was wondering how adding the whole managed computer / Jamf thing into the mix would effect these backup strategies?
I'm looking for a way to create a webclip for a specific site to deploy to a mac. Some of our users have moved from ipads to macs and I would like to still provide the webclips we have pushed to their iPads for consistency. It looks like there might be a way to create it and deploy to the dock. Also saw some mention of Fluid - but not sure that is an option that can be deployed.
