I enable user initiated enrollment, made no changes to 'general' 'messaging' and 'access' tabs', but made changes in the 'platforms' tab Changes are:-- enabled user initiated enrollment for computers-- set mgmt username/password, create mgmt account, hide, ssh enable When doing URL enrollment from mbpro, I am asked to 'login to enroll device' so I login with a Site username/password, next page asks for 'assign to user', what do I put here? What user is it wanting to assign it to? A user account already on that mbpro? If I keep it blank and press the enroll button it goes to the next page 'download and install this package' I click the download button and the next page has the 'install the downloaded quick add.pkg' progress circle, but nothing downloads. running 9.64

Does the script exit code: 0 mean that the policy was not applied? And does the script exit code: 1 mean that the policy was applied?

PRIOR to dragging it into Casper Admin I would like to change the name of the dowloaded Apple OS X installer app from "Install OS X Yosemite.app" to "MY DEPT OS X Yosemite.app" , will changing this name have a negative effect on Casper admins doing its conversion to "Install OS X Yosemite.InstallESD.dmg" ? I also plan to do this name change for previous OS X downloads ( Install OS X Mavericks.app etc..) I am not sure if changing the *.app name will confuse casper admin (I am going to create policy to upgrade imacs/mbpro/mbairs via users using Self Service)

We created a test ubuntu VM (Production will most likely RHEL) just to play with JSS/JDS before setting up production. Following instructions we got JSS up and running, generated self signed cert then ran JDS install. Looking at the output everything seems to have worked fine, I pasted the output below. When we launch Casper Admin I get an error that it can't connect to the JDS. I tried to use a browser to go to https://DEV-CASPER/CasperShareDAV and received 404 Not Found error. It shows up in in JSS as a Master DP. What am I missing? P.S. JSS and JDS are on the same server. sudo ./JDS-Linux-Installer-9.52.runVerifying archive integrity... I've written an extension to basically grep the number from the name of a text file we used in our old imaging method to keep track of the image version installed on machines. The file is /Restore/ Image Version 6.5.3.txt (Note the space at the beginning of the file, and we used RTF at one point in time and switched to TXT). The script works on it's own, but no results are returned from the extension. the script is... #!/bin/bash Filename=`ls /Restore/ Im*` if [ -z "$Filename" ]; then Bar="N/A" else Foo=${Filename#/Restore/ Image Version } Bar=${Foo%.*} fi echo $Bar The data type is set to string, the inventory display is set to Extension attributes. Is there a place to look and see the results of extensions so I can see what the problem is?

Anybody know if AutoDMG is downloading the updated ARD 3.8.2 v1.1 client or the old one?

Just curious, I haven't tried it yet but I have a mac enrolled but NOT AD Bound. I am going to now AD Bind it via 'directory utility'. Afterwords will the JSS recognize it then being AD Bound and update its record from Not AD Bound to AD Bound ?

Anybody familiar with this? http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/sep-121-ru5-corrupting-yosemite We are currently planning our Yosemite deployment strategy and SEP is one of the required applications for our environment. Just wanted to see if anyone else around here has seen the issue.

Hi all I have very recently started testing Yosemite in a test environment using 9.63 and I have hit a snag with my login script. I run the login script via a policy set to run at login with frequency set at ongoing. The script does a number of things which include launching a second script as the user which does some syncing using rsync. On Mavericks with Casper 9.32, this identical setup of script via login policy allowed the user to get to the desktop while I displayed some information and while the sync completed. On Yosemite with Casper 9.63, the desktop is NOT displayed until the scripts have completed and there can be quite a delay while the sync takes place. Has anyone noticed this and does anyone have a work around for it? If not then I might have to start launching the syncing via a launch agent.

Executing Policy Microsoft Office 2011... Mounting CasperShare (company) to /Volumes/CasperShare... verbose: Result of mount attempt: - The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.jamfsoftware.core.errors error 211.) verbose: Result code of mount attempt: 211 Error: Could not mount distribution point "CasperShare".Submitting log to https://company:8443/ Does anyone know what causes this issue? Installing these packages via Self Services last Friday worked just fine. Rebooted the iMac multiple times.

The short story is that I pushed out software that required a restart. I set the restart to occur within 2 hours after the policy completes. However, one user had the policy forced on them because they were past the deferral date I setup. Now the user is in a meeting and Casper naturally says it's going to restart within the next 90 mins. Is there a way to stop the reboot from occurring?

run this command on your FileVault 2-encrypted Mac: defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences MultipleSessionEnabled -bool false oh, apple.

Is there anyway to disable some of the spotlight options in System Preferences? An example of this is to uncheck the Bing Web Searches when using Spotlight and others. Thanks

How can I force a network drive to show on the desktop upon logging in? I can get the user's home drives, but not the shared network drives.

Anybody try to package Tableau? It's some sort of analytics software. The base install is just a drag/drop into /Applications but then it wants admin rights to install the licensing service..

We have had a few students that have, for various reasons, switched appleID's this year after entering into the Managed distribution agreement. This has become quite problematic for us, in that the only way we can access the apps that are assigned to the user are by logging out of the ID they are supposed to be using, logging into their old id, downloading the app and then going back to the correct appleID. Are there any other work arounds for this?I have tried removing them from the scope, removing all instances of them receiving apps and re-inviting them, but continue to get the message that the "user is already associated" Please help!

Hey, So I'm curious about if there is a way to flush an existing cache through the JSS itself, without having to go through a terminal command. Here's my situation. I had 10.10.1 cacheing on all computers running 10.9.x, and now that 10.10.2 has come out, I would love to just clear that out and have it cache 10.10.2 instead. Is there a relatively simple way to do this?

Our Macbooks join domain at following triggers. - login- recurring policy the problem is that even though the mac has joined the domain, the Inventory is not updated for a while and the smart group is not updated and keep showing that computer as domain not joined. Consequently the domain join process keeps repeating itself at the triggers mentioned above.

Hello all, fairly new to Casper suite, and using 9.63.Is there a way to have apps appear in multiple categories? - I have the categories broken down (OX updates, Productivity, etc) and I want to create an "ALL" category to place the apps in as well. Thanks

I've created an extension attribute to list the number of USB printers a computer has, returning an integer. I can create a Smart Group or Advanced Search based on the results, but is there any way to return a sum of printers as the result rather than a count of computers with USB printers?

This is just an FYI for everyone. We have discovered the OVA for the NetSUS appliance is incompatible with ESXi 5.1 Update 1. The problem is the Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS that the OVA is based on. The guest is constantly losing network connectivity and is unusable as a result. ESXi 5.1 update 2 or newer will work. Roger HerlingUL LLC

Is there anyway to search for a Mac running a bootcamp partition? Or maybe just search for NTFS partitions?

Hi all, When we compile our configurations, we're constantly asked for administrator credentials throughout the process, which means we have to sit in front of the machine and type it in all day long. I feel like there'd be a simple resolution for this, but can't find anything through my searches. Anyone out there know how to stop this, so that we can kick off the compile and leave it to finish? Cheers,Gavin
