I deleted a bunch of old files off the root server via C.Admin. Now when I scroll down to JDS Instances and hit replicate it errors out saying it can't find the packages (duh). What am I doing wrong?

Hi All, We use Remote desktop at the moment and have just recently introduced JSS/Casper into the environment my question is how would you go about importing all your machines from remote desktop to JSS/Casper? Thank SEN73

This is a hidden feature that was worked in last summer but currently if you do not include CN=$PROFILE_IDENTIFIER in the subject name for the certificate your certificate will expire and never renew. When you add CN=$PROFILE_IDENTIFIER to the subject name then click on General mandatory you will have an option below Level computer/user drop down that appears "Redeploy Profile". This is how frequent it will redeploy the profile which will delete the existing Certificate and deliver a new certificate. One thing to consider is like in our environment you have to be on the network to see our CA. So I have our profile scoped to all computer but they have to be on networks that have access to the CA. This way if they do not have access to the network it doesn't remove the certificate leaving the user unable to connect to our VPN solution.

Figured id ask, Im sure this have been covered before, I have 11 Systems running 10.8.3 to 10.8.5 that i want to upgrade to OSX 10.9. In the past i Used my Macbook Pro running OSX server and had a netinstall image of OSX and upgrade them using netInstall, Id like do this again or if anyone has a better way to do this with a 3rd party software id love to hear it, Also i have not made a net boot image of OSX in a long time so any refresher on that would be great. I plan to go about this on Thursday at a remote site and wanted a quick and easy way to go about it without just using Flash Drives or copying the file to a Master system and then copying it to each System as i Upgrade them. Once again Im casperless and pretty much use ARD to manage my systems, Id love to find a way i can do this via ARD but nothing really stands out other then creating some kind of automator Script.... again Suggestions welcome thanks you@

I am experiencing a problem with the 10.9 Netboot being able to boot the newly released Retinas and older Macbook Pros (non-retinas). I built the Netboot image from the new Retinas. They boot fine, the older MBPs do not. I know the new Retinas forked 10.9, but my usual tricks aren't working. Namely, running recovery on the new Retinas, putting the install files on a USB drive, and running the Retina Mavericks build install on the MBP. Then building the Netboot image from that machine. It still boots the new Retinas, but not the older MBPs.

Is there a way to have the quickadd package restart the machine after it finishes enrolling the device? I am using self enroll and want the machine to restart after the end user finishes the enroll process. ThanksLarry

Has anyone been successful with opening the lock on the network preference pane in 10.9? I was using the old way of enable preference panes by running a script with the following commands in 10.8: /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "set rights:system.preferences:class allow" /etc/authorization /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "set rights:system.preferences.timemachine:class allow" /etc/authorization /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "set rights:system.preferences.network:class allow" /etc/authorization /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "set rights:system.preferences.energysaver:class allow" /etc/authorization /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "set rights:system.preferences.printing:class allow" /etc/authorization /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "set rights:system.preferences.datetime:class allow" /etc/authorization In 10.9 PlistBuddy no longer works and you have to use the security command: security authorizationdb write system.preferences allow security authori

I am exploring a reposado sus and possibly a netboot server but the only info I can find states it runs on Ubuntu. Is there a way of running this on a server that is at Mac OS 10.8.5 or 10.9 Server?

We decided to upgrade to Mavericks and Server 3.0 on our Mac Mini server. The JSS didn't like that. Whoops. The upgrade also removed Java, and JCE, which was a semi pain to fix, but not terrible. The JSS is running fine now, but in System Prefs I notice that MySQL is "not running" which is not possible as the JSS works, so it must be running. The only conclusion I can come to is that a preference file in MySQL is missing or a pointer is invalid. Has anyone seen this issue or knows how to resolve? At this point it's just a cosmetic issue but if/when I need to restart I won't be able to since I can't stop/start the service. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi JAMFnation, Does any one know how to manage the stored updates on the NetSUS appliance by jamf? How do you delete unwanted updates so to free up space? Can you delete them manually or is there a tool out there that can do this? Thank you guys in Advance

Hello, Will the Self Service client (from Caseper 8.6) installed on my existing computers be able to talk to the new JSS 9.2 or do I need to update all clients first before upgrading the server? Thanks,Dirk

Let's say I am the admin of several hundred Mac's. Let's also say I have an employee that wants to "tinker" with his MacBook so he goes off and buys his own RAM to upgrade his machine to 8 gigs instead of 4. Is there a way for Casper to report a hardware change in this such way?I was thinking extension attribute(s) plus tons of other scripting but not sure where to start. Thanks in advance for any advice/comments.

Where might this info be pulled from? Thanks for any help in advance! Michael

Hi All - was wondering if there is a way to automatically update recon to clients after the JSS on the server is update. is is the same as creating a package and deploy via policy?

Hello , trying to create a new 10.8.5 instadmg image and all I keep getting as output is a dmg of the packages that I added as in the OS is missing. I'm running JSS 9.12 and I can't seem to disable the "Log out users after: XX minutes of inactivity" setting in the OS Configuration Profile for Login Window. Any ideas as to whether this is a bug or if I'm doing something wrong? ThanksJP

Is there a way to have the policy execution status be "failed" if the script within the policy fails a test? I have a policy that runs a script. At the end of the script I test to see if it was successful. How do I pass its failure to the policy so that it indicates the scripts success or not? I played with exit values on the script, but the policy still states it successful no matter if it passed the test or not. Thanks, Gretchen

I'm trying to distribute Microsoft Lync but in order for it to work it needs our company generated Root CA also to be installed. Whats the best way to achieve this?

Can anyone point me to the discussion thread we had earlier this year or last where folks chimed in on how many Casper admins were supporting how many devices in their environment. I'm trying to do some capacity planning.

In previous OS i used this command to enable Accessibility sudo touch /private/var/db/.AccessibilityAPIEnabled for some reason if i have this in a policy in 10.8 it prompts for admin credentials. Has anyone else noticed this

I'm planning an upgrade from CrashPlan 3.8.2010.2 to the latest CrashPlan PROe. I know that the clients will automatically update themselves once the server is updated, but I'd like to be able to monitor this with Casper. Is there an extended attribute available that would let me keep track of what version of the client software is running?

Is there a way to delete multiple computer records from the JSS database using the web console?

Is there a way to recover a package/dmg in Casper Admin if you haven't yet empied the trash?

Hi guys Anyone know if its possible to scope config profiles to AD group membership? Trying to move away from ADmitMac and last piece of the puzzle is config profiles for different access for removable media

Hi, I've got an enrollment policy that binds machines to AD, however some of our machines are already bound. When I tested the enrollment on a machine that is already in AD, it comes back that the policy has failed. Is there a way to ignore the directory bind if its already there? Thanks Dave
