I have a freshly created 10.7.4 Netboot Image, created with the specifications here: https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/article.html?id=63 Whenever boot from it, I get "The system was unable to unlock your login keychain" with the options to Continue Log In, Create New Keychain, or Update Keychain Password. Could someone explain why I'm getting this, and how I can fix it so that it doesn't prompt? It kind of defeats the purpose of having Autorun setup... Thanks! --Daniel

We employ Symantec Endpoint Protection v12 and I have created a package using Composer which includes current updates. One additional feature we'd like to include are custom settings for the Symantec Scheduler for periodic product updates and file system scans. Can that be done?

We have Casper 8.31. Can that be used to image Mountain Lion or must you upgrade to Casper 8.6?

Hi everyone. Sorry if this turns out to be answered already. I have been reading through these discussions for 3 days trying to figure out how to make this work right. I have arrived at the point where I have a working Lion image on an external hard drive. Following directions from the 7th reply (Bukira's response) in this thread: https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/featureRequest.html?id=70 If I boot to the external I can use Casper Imaging and NetInstall Launchpad fine (except sometimes when I exit Casper Imaging and try to relaunch it from the Lauchpad it opens up twice, same with Disk Utility). Besides that everything still works when I use Casper Imaging to image a new configuration of Base 10.7.4 [a separate --fresh-- image I made after the external, from an alternate MacBookPro while the iMac was in target disk mode] and a few programs and plugins etc. When I use System Image Utility to capture the external image it works fine, create the .nbi folder and I move it to

Hey JAMFs. I don't get the apps ratings within JSS MDM. This is in profile configuration, restrictions category, under Media tab. What do "4+", "9+", "12+" et c. mean? E.g. does 9+ mean for age 9 and over? I'm looking for something like "4 and under", "9 and under" et c. NOT 9 AND OVER!

I am a little frustrated with Casper because you cant make a smart group ignore another smart group. How are people getting around this to make exemption groups? Dummy packages?

Another thing I see broken is the option "Display status to user during login and logout". I am not getting the pop up messages anymore updating the status of policies running. They are running but the message is not working.

Has anybody got Mountain Lion downloaded and confirmed the ability to block it? Can you post the tag you used in "Restricted Software" for those of us who are waiting forever on overloaded servers! Thanks!

I am having an issue with casper admins progress bar freezing/stopping when I replicate our internal JSS to our external JSS since our update to 8.6 Anyone else seeing this issue?

I just installed 8.6 in my dev environment, and i can't seem to enable User-initiated enrollment. The options don't show up in the management framework settings anywhere. I just don't have the "Enrollment Process" tab at all in Computer Management Framework Settings. Anyone have any ideas how to enable this?

I have a number of printers which I recently added via Casper Admin. When I create a smart group to identify computers missing the printer, the list is quite different. If I use remote or create a policy they are all right. It only appears to be a problem for Smart Groups accessing Mapped Printers receipts.

I have a JSS server with a distribution point sitting in once city and want to have another synced to this one sitting in another city. But I want the users of each city to use only the server from each city.is there an easy way to do this? Also any policy to run the sync at certain time?thanks Carmelo

So I followed the guide about how to package Office 2011 and use templates and all that stuff from http://www.officeformachelp.com/office/administration/deployment/casper/ However a few users have complained that their spell checker is not functional in anything except outlook (word, PP, Excel don't work. Excel returns cannot initialize spellchecker).I've scoured the internet trying to find whats wrong and i'm coming up empty. I've tried the dictionary suggestions, deleting the normal.dotm file and stuff nothign seems to work. In word it seems the grammer checkbox is greyed out. If I install the product manually and don't use any of the customization things it works fine. So I assume it's the MUD / Office First Run stuff, but i dont recall changing anything in that, only pre-configuring for Outlook...

Hi everyone, I've been stumped for two days on this one… this isn't exactly Casper related, but I was wondering if anyone here has run into this: I have a user with OS X 10.7.4, re-imaged recently, logging in with a local user (admin) account. She has suddenly lost the ability to connect to a Windows share on her MacBook Pro. The path to the share/folder is: smb://servername.domain.edu/deptshares$/share1 The share is on a Windows Server 2008 R2 server. When she mounts the share, she only gets the root folder (deptshares$) mounted on her desktop, which she is unable to browse. Usually, the share would mount, and a new finder window for share1 appears on the screen, and she can browse the contents of the folder as normal. Our server admins have checked her access and it's set properly, and nothing has changed recently. There are several other oddities that I'm encountering with this issue: - It was working fine before she went on vacation. When she came ba

I went through the enrollment process with some new ipads we received and they say they were enrolled. However Inventory of mobile devices does not list it and the Self Service Icon does not get pushed to the iPad. Have I done something wrong? It worked when I had my jumpstart on it and the only thing that has changed is my activation code.

So I'm trying to create a smart group showing which 10.6.8 machines have had 'Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 9' installed, so I can run rtrouton's excellent 'enable java web plugin' script and launchagent: https://github.com/rtrouton/rtrouton_scripts/tree/master/rtrouton_scripts/enable_java_web_plugins_at_login Other com.apple.pkg.JavaForMacOSX10.6Update* receipts show, but not the latest (the one that disables the plugin by default). All machines in questions have been recon'd immediately after receiving the update from the local SWUS - on that I noticed that the package name doesn't seem to include 'Update 9,' BUT if I search for JavaSecurity that shows older updates.

I'm still testing the distribution points I've built out on Windows VMs around the world. Finally have some Macs that I'm testing on the other side of the world.... The issue is I had is a package I pushed failed using http distribution from one site. I've turned off http distributions, and smb is working fine at the site. It is not the usual problem as the symlink in /Program Files (x86)/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/htdocs/CasperShare does open the folder D:/CasperShare I was able to test another of my sites yesterday and pushed a package and http downloads worked just fine. I built the sites the same way after the server team prepped the VMs... Any hints as to what I might not be seeing? Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to get the status of a policy using the API and a script. I can't seem to extract the text I am looking for. I'm using curl to read the XML curl -v -k -u API_username:API_password https://jss.example.com:8443/JSSResource/policies/id/17 It comes in a long single-line string that I've placed some below. From that string I'm hoping to read what's between <enabled> </enabled>. I can't seem to figure it out. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?><policy><general><id>181</id><name>ZombieComputers</name><enabled>false</enabled><trigger>every15</trigger><trigger_other/><frequency>Disabled</frequency><offline>false</offline><category><id>20</id><name>NetRender</name></category><date_time_limitations><activation_date>2011-08-30 16:00:00</activat

What is the exact behavior of the "Automatically Image this Computer the next time Casper Imaging is launched" checkbox? Is it a toggle, or does it reset after the imaging takes place the first time after it is checked?

We have been trying to setup or JSS for Mobile Device Managment, we have used the Push Notification Certificate assistant to generate and import our APN certificate into JSS, the JSS says the push notification has gone through but it just sits on pending. We have allowed the ports OUTBOUND TCP 5223, 2195-2196 from our Apple Server to Internet. When the device enrolls it comes up in Inventory but does not show up all the inventory details, just the UUID of the device. So i went looking in the logs to see if that would provide me with some idea of what is going on and these are the errors i'm getting: 2012-04-11 09:45:06,909 [ERROR] [APNSQueueManager ] - An exception was raised while attempting to send a push notification to device: 35416879c45980ed8c3207ced4cd3e5782011cf62012-04-11 09:45:06,909 [ERROR] [APNSQueueManager ] - Exception (class javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException): Received fatal alert: decrypt_error2012-04-11 09:45:06,909 [ERROR] [APNSQueueManager

We have encountered several scenarios in which profiles are not properly installing after a machine is re-imaged. In the JSS, it will show that the profile has been successfully installed in the time since re-imaging (Completed Command in Management History); however, there is no profile on the machine. Restarts don't seem to help. What we have done to successfully fix this is: remove the computer from the JSS and use the QuickAdd package (I believe we created this with Recon) to add the machine again. This appears to work. Is there a way to fix this on the server side so that we don't have to manually remove and QuickAdd computers after we re-image?

We are brand spanking new to Casper and our Jumpstart is in a few weeks. I'm setting up a Mac Mini OS X 10.7 server and running through the Casper Admin doc. It wasn't clear to me if I needed to install Tomcat, but since it wasn't part of Lion, I decided to install the Tomcat binaries from tomcat.org.I installed it in /Library/Tomcat, but then I read the in the Admin Guide that JSS installs Tomcat in /Library/JSS/Tomcat. Should take out my Tomcat install?

I'm able to pull database and table info from MySQL but not sure how to do a full inventory dump, including applications information. Is there a clif note floating around that we can reference? I'm a little rusty from my Xinet days, but I was able to pull the database and tables as shown below. Thanks,Don $ mysql -u jamfsoftware -p Enter password: Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Hi Jamfnation- I'm a netSUS appliance newbie, and I'm having trouble with the Java 2012-004 update that was released yesterday. Basically, I've enabled that update on the appliance in my root branch, but clients are not seeing it.If I enable or disable other updates on that branch, the changes are reflected on my clients, so I'm at least fairly sure I've got my branch url correct.Anyone have any ideas on this?

I added a URL "plugin" in Self Service. It's my webmail login page which is hosted on a 10.6.8 server so it's just the default SquirrelMail page. The text boxes for username and password come up black in Self Service but they come up fine in Safari. Anyone else seen this???
