apps show up in the dock but don’t open when clicked

Hello,

After deploying updates to Adobe Creative Cloud apps via JAMF, several users have reported that they are unable to launch applications like Photoshop and Illustrator. The apps show up in the dock but don’t open when clicked, and they remain unresponsive. The issue appears to persist until the user restarts their Mac. Has anyone experienced this problem with Adobe apps after an update? Any suggestions on how to resolve it, or troubleshooting steps you’ve used that worked?

Appreciate any advice!

Best Regard,

Giga

Hello @grisma56giga,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue. This problem can sometimes occur after updates. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Restart the Mac: Ensure users restart their Macs to see if it resolves the issue.

  2. Clear Cache: Ask users to clear their application cache by holding down the Shift key while launching the app.

  3. Reinstall Adobe Apps: Uninstall and then reinstall the Adobe Creative Cloud apps via JAMF.

  4. Check Permissions: Ensure that the necessary permissions are granted for Adobe apps in the "Security & Privacy" settings.

  5. Update JAMF: Make sure your JAMF Pro instance is up to date.

If the issue persists, it might be best to contact Adobe support for further assistance.

Best Regards,

Yes, this issue has been reported after Adobe Creative Cloud updates via JAMF. A common fix is to have users log out and log back in instead of a full restart. You can also try running the  command in Terminal and relaunching the apps. Ensure that all Adobe processes are fully quitting before reopening the software. If the issue persists, resetting Adobe Creative Cloud preferences or reinstalling the affected apps may help. Also, check JAMF policies to ensure updates are applied correctly without conflicts.
