1st Generation Xserve (anyone running latest JSS on it?)

Is anyone running the latest JSS (7.31) on 1st generation Xserve? I know there's a dependancy on Java 6, which requires 64 bit.

The 1st generation Xserve has a 32 bit architecture, but yesterday we were able to check the "64 bit" box in JSS Utility to bring Tomcat memory up to 8G.

So I wanted to see if we were off base in thinking we were stuck on 7.1 with the 1st generation Xserve?

Thanks,
Don

OK, didn't get many responses (actually, none <g>) on this.

I just got confirmation from JAMF that JSS 7.31 will run on 1st generation Xserve (Xserve1,1), and that JAMF fully supports it.

The Xserve has 10.6.4 installed, and Java SE 6 is running with 64 bit option checked.

Hope this helps anyone who has to deploy JSS on 1st generation Xserve. :)

I know this is very old, but how does it run on the Xserve?

Bump it up to OS X 10.6.8..

Humm -- That bit sounds very dodgy to me.. Since 32-Bit is only 4 GB address space..
Beyond that it would "Wrap around"..

The 2006 Xserve could only boot into 32 bit mode, even though the pocessors and EFI are 64 bit. JSS Utility allowed you to select unreasonably high memory level given the limitation. Once we came to terms with the 32 vs 64 bit issue, and set the memory for Tomcat properly, our Tomcat issues started to go away. This was a few years go, dubtful anyons is running that old Xserve model anymore. LOL
