8.7 to 9.24 upgrade on windows 2008 R2

Hi Everyone

I was searching on here for any info or guidance for upgrading from 8.7 till 9.24.... didn't find any so I reached out the JAMF and I was told it shouldn't be a problem. So i took a snapshot of our JSS server and gave it a spin (the 4 steps seemed too simple to be true). knowing I could call on JAMF was a good back have also. No need to stop any services (tomcat etc)

Install worked like a charm (we are running on windows 2008 R2), so I'm just going to get my head around the new interface and test a few things but so far so good, binary's are updating and i can see the inventory (anyone know anything else i should look for feel free to jump in) :)

im back up to date and will not leave it so long next time.

Good work JAMF !!!!

hope this helps any one out there looking for info.....feel free to ping me

Upgraded our testing environment today from 8.73 to 9.24. We also run it on Windows 2008 R2.

The only thing that has been hanging us up was needing to temporarily disable antivirus (System Center Endpoint Protection in our case) on the server to allow the installer to complete properly. Hopefully they'll be adding that note to the installer documentation.

Will see what we find down the line here as we use it.

@ernstcs Disabling the AV temporarily has gotten us a few times on 8.x upgrades too. After only a few times, I decided it'd be good for me to put that step in our upgrade checklist. :)

good to hear things are going well for people....

can I be cheeky and ask what other steps you cover in pre-install?

so far i take a VMware snapshot of the server, check my java, SQL are up to correct spec and then follow the 4 steps in the release notes (back up db, copy, run and reschedule backups if needed).

I have a template in Evernote that we use because I've found it easier for me than trying to remember everything each time. Here's a link to it if you're interested. Hope you find it helpful.

Edit: Now a Dropbox link to the PDF instead of Evernote.

Changed the link to a Dropbox link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/49463/Casper%20Upgrade%20Template.pdf

Noticed an email wasn't sent on the edit of the previous message so wanted to make sure the proper link went out.
