Best Practice to apply default user settings

Hi,

I would like to configure Finder preferences such as Items shown on desktop and default view.

I am not sure how I should do it.

Is there a way to configure this using Configuration Profile but allow the user to modify the settings afterwards?

Yes, you can set it via profile, but you will want to "Set Once" instead of forced. Handy dandy utility here: mcxToProfile with documentation of how to adjust.

I saw this utility a few times but I though that it was mostly for custom settings. Does that mean that all the default Payload in the configuration profiles are forced and if I want to configure something to be "Set Once" I have to use this utility?
