Casper Imaging progress bar issue for certain packages on SOME machines

for some reason on the mid 2012 MPBs released just prior to the retina display machines, when imaging there are certain packages that show the blue barber pole effect the entire time the package is being pushed but never the progress bar. Once the machine boots it appears the package has been installed. Has anyone seen this before and does anyone know why this is occurring?

I could be wrong, but I think there are different status behaviors in Self Service for DMG vs PKG, and between HTTP and AFP.

There are certain packages where the progress bar appears stuck and then after a long wait, it blasts to the end.

How large are the packages? What type are they (pkg or dmg)?

the packages are DMG some over a gig others about 50 MB but the issue im having is that aside from the most recent hardware the packages were working fine, even on 10.7.4 machines released this year...now noticing im getting an error message saying (no such file or directory) though i can see the package and its contents mounted on the desktop
