Error with Netboot

Not applicable

I'm trying to setup netboot to reload a few hundred eMacs we have that are currently running 10.3.9
Everything seems to go okay until Casper Imaging gets to the "reading autorun data" and then errors out
with Casper could not find the target disk: Machintosh HD.

I've check the autorun data, deleted it and recreated it, check the naming on the target I have manually wipe the HD on the target....still get this error

Any Ideas?

Hi all,

I just wanted to drop a line here to clear up some of the issues that folks have been seeing with NetInstall images.

There is a known issue that when your NetInstall image is running Mac OS X 10.4.11 along with Casper Imaging 6.x, Casper Imaging is unable to interact with the filesystem. This would be the reason that Casper Imaging is throwing the message about not being able to find the target drive. If there is no autorun data configured for the machine, you would notice that no drives appear in the drop down for "Target Drive". Note that this issue only exists if your NetInstall image is not running Mac OS X 10.5.

We do have a couple of workarounds for this issue:

1.) Create a 10.5 NetInstall Image with version 6.x of Casper Imaging.

2.) If you are still not ready to make the leap to 10.5, the issue can be fixed for 10.4.X by creating a "NetBoot" image manually and run it through the System Image Utility. I have attached instructions on how to create a "NetBoot" image for use with Casper.

I would also like to take a moment to direct those folks that are using Casper Suite Resource Kit related items such as the Casper NetInstall Image Creator to the Resource Kit mailing list that has been setup in an effort to keep Casper related questions on the Casper list and resource kit related questions on the Resource Kit list.
