We have been having an increasing issue with our fleet of MacBook air issues. We have recently rolled out a series of 4k interactive TV's for our teachers, they are connecting via an active display-port to HDMI dongle or just a regular passive dongle or using a thunderbolt 2 dock.
im finding that sometimes when the teacher connects to the display, the Mac will not detect the display. in the system report i can see that the computer will see the thunderbolt dock (if they are connected do it) but under the display menu its only showing the built in screen.
Our fix at the moment is to reboot the computer twice, as it doesn't work on the first reboot. I've tried resetting the NVRAM and SMC with no luck, same with changing the cables/docks/adapters all no different.
All computers are running 10.13.6.
