Force quite all applications when logging out

Hi - We have created a Managed Preference to auto log out of computers after 10 minutes of inactivity. Issue is that when the student walk away they usually leave an application open. I want to force quite those apps (usually MS Office apps) then auto log out. I don't want the auto log out process to hang because an application is waiting for user input. I can create a script in terminal that killall microsoft apps. But how to I kick that script off after the 10 minutes of inactivity? What is the best way to handle this?

Thank you

Your best bet might be to use a third party app.

Power Manager allows for a script to be run after inactivity.
