For many versions of Casper in the last 5 years we have intermittent errors when downloading packages via http. The new one is this:
Downloading Java8Update51.pkg...
Downloading https://xxx.xxx.org/CasperShare/Packages/Java8Update51.pkg...
Error: Java8Update51.pkg is not available on the HTTP server.
I can copy and paste the url for this package into my browser and can download w/o any problem. What I've done to attempt to remedy:
Reboot JSS
Rebuild symbolic links
Re-propagate permissions across the distribution points
For any given policy, about 5% of clients error out with this and other http errors. Any tips on resolving these errors?
Cheers,
John

I've seen that error before if packages are not flat packages. Pretty certain the Java package is, but worth a double-check.
Any error code numbers you see if you are using HTTP downloads are CURL error codes. If you look up the code, you might get a better idea of what's happening: http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/libcurl-errors.html

@johnnasset are the computers that are failing laptop users that may be running the policy from off network? Most of our staff are mobile users who are connected to other people's networks and we have issues with policies failing for various reasons. My favorite is when we have staff on networks where .zip files are being blocked by a firewall or content filter.
