Identify/track performance problem?

Our team is new to JAMF and still exploring its capabilities; I'm wondering whether there's any JAMF function, report or policy we might effect that could help diagnose a performance problem (e.g., possible runaway task) on a MacOS system?

Symptom report is as follows....

I’m on 10.15.6 and there is a kernel_task that’s consuming anywhere from 70-100% CPU with no visibility into what’s causing it.  I thought it was my local Docker at first, but it’s doing it even when that’s not running.  I then thought it was RingCentral and/or Krisp, but it’s not consistently that, either.  Nor is it Chrome as the issue comes and goes regardless of what I’m doing.  But it’s making my computer almost unusable for 30min or so at time When this is happening I even have a 1-3sec delay between what I’m typing and text entry into whatever field

There probably is much easier way to this. Install https://brew.sh and install https://formulae.brew.sh/formula/htop

Open terminal and run htop

Have a look at built–in powermetrics binary. You can build a nice script around it and run it via JPS.
