Imaging sometimes shows "Sign in with your Apple ID"

Hi,

During my image testing, sometimes the "Sign in with Your Apple ID" appears instead of the "Casper is now configuring" splash screen which should appear (first reboot stage).

It is still performing all the installation processes in the background and then reboots as it should to complete.

Any ideas why this may be the case? As I said, SOMETIMES only - not always the case.

Thanks.

This only happens if you have it set to install items at reboot in casper admin. Since the account it uses still shows all the setup assistant screens. This is just whats going on behind the Jamf Helper. I had issues with install at reboot items not trigging enrollment complete, so I had to make a new image that auto logins to a user 1st then disables autologin after enrollment is complete.

@gshackney Only if you set it to install items at reboot within Casper Admin (rather than the JSS)? Or do I misunderstand?

Sorry not being very clear this morning. If you have install at reboot checked (in admin or on the JSS) for a package, it will create a fake user just to do the installs at reboot. Once done it removes this user.

Sometimes you may see the setup assistant screen show up before the Casper Imaging (jamf helper) screen kicks in. But this is normal since its really trying to login with a user in the background for the the 1st time.

Ah, right - thought it may have been a bug of Casper Admin specifically... but just seems to be a bug, period. I wonder why it appears only occasionally.

That's a bit annoying. May confuse technicians/users waiting for imaging to complete. Rather than to alter the image, I might just leave it or... maybe try to change prefs with script at image time. Could be fun.

@gshackney Sorry to revive this thread, we've had this happen again on a few devices and we've had a few questions arise as to "why". You said

However, I can't explain why this happens on say 3 out of 20 machines being imaged that are all the same, and getting the same configuration. Surely they should all get the issue or not?
