+18So I'm seeing an issue where if I set names via a Pre-Stage Enrollment then have a configuration profile that does not enable changing of the name, then you can never rename this ipad in the JSS.
Once I change the config profile to allow name changes, then I can rename the unit on the jss and the change goes through.
Anyone else confirm this? Is this a bug or normal function?

You're not the only one. The change seemed to happen somewhere around iOS 9.2. I think it's just the way it works now. FWIW I haven't had any issues since turning off the name change restriction. If students change their iPad name the JSS sends an MDM command to change it back next time it inventories.
