JAMF binary 7.1

Not applicable

Hiya all,

I found the verb to install a package using the command line
jamf install package xyz.pkg
... but I get an error 'The package (xyz.pkg) cannot be found.'
I see in the jamf man pages that a path can/must be supplied to the binary,
since I didn't supply one I presume this is the stem of my error message but
am uncertain what 'path to', to supply to the binary.

Looked on the KB but found nothing about installing via binary.

Thanks and happy turkey day to the USA folks!!!

Hi Pat!

Not in front of my work computer right now, but I think the path you need to
specify is not to the JAMF binary but to the package file itself. You need
to tell the JAMF binary *where* the package is located.

Happily in a tryptophan coma. :-)

What I do to accomplish the same thing is do a custom policy. I drop
the PKG file into Casper Admin, configure it with a priority number,
small description and then sync it to the Casper distribution points. Then in the JSS web interface I create a policy to install the PKG via
custom trigger, example - mycustompkg

Then from the command line I can either do this manually or script it
via a shell script

jamf policy -trigger mycustompkg

You may need sudo if you run it from the command line. Otherwise, if
done by a policy the casper ssh account should handle it which should
run as admin/root anyway.
