JAMF Macbook password resets?

We use JAMF pro and our end users travel a lot. If they forget their Mac password on the road what is the best way to get them back in from Jamf? Thanks!

Are your Mac's encrypted ? (keys escrowed in JAMF ?)

No way to really programmatically unlock, chicken before egg problem, but the account can be unlocked with the FV key if escrowed in JAMF

Two things off the top of my head....
1. Using Jamf, send a policy to change the password, assuming it's on a network.
2. If no FV in the equation, use the resetpassword command. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202860

I think you will find it quite useful to have a uniform local admin account on every Mac. It can be used for access, recovery, troubleshooting, app installation etc. The password can be changed via Jamf for security. Please note this is different from the Jamf management account.

In JAMF Pro, you can use the Reset Password management command to set a temporary password for users who forget their Mac password while traveling. Send the temporary password securely to the user, allowing them to log in and set a new password. Enabling FileVault can also provide a recovery key for secure access in the future.
