Loop in Jamf Patch Management

Forum|alt.badge.img+7

Hey,

when installing Firefox or Chrome Updates with Jamfs built in Patch Management I ran into a problem:

This "Attempt 1" loops ~10 times on each device that has to be patched. After this weird loop the version on the targeted device does not change and is still outdated.
I am using the newest .dmg from the official Chrome / Firefox website and the "Install Automatically" Option in Jamf Patch Management.

Can someone help out?

Where is the DMG installing Chrome to?

We normally create a pkg for the app to install it into /Applications

It appears that you have uploaded the dmg that is available from the software maker. That won't work for deploying via Jamf.

For Firefox, I mount the .dmg and drop the application on to the Packages application. This creates a deployable pkg file for you. Repeat the process for Google Chrome. (There are other ways to get the same results, but this has been working for me for years.)

A demo of the process is available by @rtrouton here https://derflounder.wordpress.com/2014/05/02/building-simple-packages-with-packages/
