Mac OS-X Enrollment is disabled.

When I send an invitation out to enroll in MDM, I'm getting this error but can't seem to find the setting to 'enable.' What's the trick?

Is your invitation directing users to the User Initiated Enrollment page? If so, have you checked under the Computer Management Framework Settings section and under Enrollment Process tab there? That wording is from version 8.73, so I can't recall if its a little different now under 9.x but it should be worded pretty close to that.

That has to be checked on and set up before anyone can enroll themselves, or else they'll get to a "disabled" page like you describe.

It must be different in 9.x versions. I also can't figure out the user initiated enrollment URL since we're using a JSS hosted by JAMF and the verbiage in all the instructions assumes you're hosting yourself.

it should be https://FQDN:8443/enroll

Or whatever port your web access is on for your server. You may have to call your account rep and find out what the URL would be if it is a standardized URL for a JAMF hosted JSS.

Hosted doesn’t actually make a difference here; the JSS, which is kept up to date with the latest version, is still identical in terms of where everything is regardless of whether it’s hosted with our service or locally. Options will still be in the same place, and none of the options for user initiated enrollment are specific to hosted locally vs. hosted in the cloud.

To turn on User Initiated Enrollment in 9: Gear Icon >> Computer Management >> User-Initiated Enrollment >> Check Enable User-initiated Enrollment and fill in any other fields necessary for your environment.

To enable it for mobile devices: Gear Icon >> Mobile Device Management >> User-Initiated Enrollment for Mobile Devices >> Check Allow user-initiated enrollment without invitation and fill in the other information as necessary.

The enrollment URL is simply, as @Joseph.Morris said, https://YourJSSURL:8443/enroll.

For a cloud instance, it’s just https://jss.jamfcloud.com/YourInstanceName/enroll
