MacOS Updates with Deferral

I was using the clunky JAMF built in solution for ASU deferrals and it was working fine.
It recently broke (verified by JAMF support) and now I'm looking for a new solution.
I need a week long Apple software update deferral that repeats with no forced update. So basically give staff a week to defer indefinitely until they finally update - resetting each week.
Also I would like the computer to restart even if the update doesn't require it so we get users to restart their computers at least once in a reasonable amount of time.
I've read a lot of posts on this topic yet I'm unsure if the solutions listed in the threads are current
I'd really appreciate some guidance with what people are currently having success with. Thanks for any assistance.

Someone must have worked out a current solution for managing software updates with deferrals now that the JAMF solution is broken.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
