Managing macs with Casper Managed Profiles

I am working on my computer management and security compliance for 10.7 and newer macs. I have setup to configure setting on my macs. I have found Managed Profiles t one a bit limiting. I am looking to be able to manage things like screen saver, finder pref. I see this can be done with MCX. Can MCX be used on Mac that are already being managed with Casper Managed Profiles? What is the best way to make sure Macs get settings that Casper Managed Profiles can not set ?

You can mix MCX and Profiles, but it's not recommended. For my needs, Profiles aren't mature enough (and also because they rely upon APNS it won't work in our environment currently) for my needs.

What is the way you manage macs?

I use somewhat simple MCX's (show HD and Connected Servers on the desktop) while using Config Profiles and Policies without an issue. I'd just be careful not to create an MCX that is being managed in another way.
