Question

Math Notes Calculator app iOS 18 Jamf Pro

Forum|alt.badge.img+26

This is going to sound lame, but how do I turn off this new feature using a Jamf Pro config file?

We are Jamf Cloud hosted so we currently have the newest shipping version of Pro.

Given that we are in a school setting, our teachers don't want a student using the new functionality on an iPad to get things done for them on say a math test.

I'm told that Jamf Teacher might offer this capability, but I want to know all the ways to possibly control this including from the centrally-set side.

Jamf can only deploy configurations that the app developer (in this case apple) makes. I suggest looking on Apple developer page for restrictions and see if anything was published. If nothing was made you probably want to submit feedback to Apple, but don't expect anything anytime soon as beta season is over. You should be able to block the calculator app out right with a Configuration Profile if needed.

Math Notes restrictions is part of the DDM framework.

You will need to yell at Jamf to implement DDM controls. You may be able to do it with blueprints feature they showed off at JNUC...it will be a while though even if it's in that feature I bet.

@AJPinto Agreed… This is my way of running it up the flagpole.
@boberito I highly suspect it does involve the new blueprints feature as Apple has announced it to be a declarative control. But interestingly enough, they have it available as a function in Jamf Teacher. I read tales of people blocking the new Calculator app and that seems simple enough, but the AI function apparently still works despite doing that. I am hoping to get somebody from Jamf to weigh in here on it. I have an open case, if not.
