Netinstall Image Creator Problem

Not applicable

Has anyone used the Casper Netinstall Image Creator? Everytime I use it, and have it save to the Netboot folder, all it does us create a nbi folder with a pref file in it and that's it. If I have it save onto the desktop, it creates the dmg as it should, but I just can't get it to save to the Netboot folder. Anyone has any ideas?

I used it elusively over the summer to image our 6,000 Macs all which we did by netbooting. When you run netinstall creator you should point it to the volume that has the netbootSP0 folder on it. For example, I keep all my nbi files on a separate partition over the OS. So if I need to wipe the OS then the netboot is still right there.

Can you please list the exact steps you took to create your netboot installer?

I ran the Capser Netinstall app on our netboot/Casper server. The netboot images and Casper packages are on a mounted X-raid volume. I pointed the Casper Netinstall app at an old 10.5.3 image and Casper Imaging 6.1 and had it dump the nbi folder onto the NetbootSP0. I'd do this and it would take some maybe twenty minutes to do it's thing where it looks like it's creating the dmg but it's apparently not as the dmg is like 48mb instead of 12gigs. Once it's done, it asks for the admin password which I provide. Thereafter the nbi folder exists but all there is within it is a plist file as the dmg mysteriously disappears.

Are you copying the image to the machine locally which you are creating the netinstall for? that is what I did and it worked for me.
