there are no printers installed but the Inventory for the computer says 1 printer, and in the printer area that list the printer it just says PPD

I have to reset the printing system on the computer and have inventory run in order for it to display the proper value for how many printers are installed = 0

anyone else have this issue ?

in the computers printers list on the JSS the Model of the printer says "No PPD" ?

this is a Sharp MX-C311, why does it say "No PPD"

for the other printers, the Model lists the printer driver version.

in /Library/Printers is see a PPD directory, and within that I see the

Sharp MX-C311.PPD.gz

My policy installs the driver and then maps the printer. I do this with also Xerox printers and everything is ok with them, the Model for the Xerox machines show the driver version. Why is the Sharp printer different?

Check for files inside /etc/CUPS/ppd. CUPS copies PPDs there when a printer is installed. I believe Casper looks for PPDs in there and it will report that a printer is installed if a file is found.

@Fveja what if the sharpMXC311.ppd is not in /etc/cups/ppd ?

the printer is getting installed via 'self service' and works for the users (so no problem there).

what if the SHARP.ppd is not in this directory ?
