Office 2004

Not applicable

I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems with the Font Menu
performance at startup? We have tried everything we can think of to
eliminate it and it is always there. We did discover that if there are
any local users on the machine they open correctly, any users added after
the package was installed they always get the notice about the font menu
performance.

Thanks, Shawn

Check that your office package isn't also pushing out a corrupt font user
cache.

I assume that you are using FUT FUE so check to make sure you are not
pushing out this file
Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office Font Cache (11)

We have had pretty good luck with moving our fonts to a common place on the system (/Library/Fonts) and then getting rid of the "dofonts" file located in the MS Office 2004 folder. This stops the fonts from loading for each user and just uses the fonts that are located in the shared folder. Here are the steps that we use to do this...

1) Take a snapshot

2) Install Office, run all updates and launch the program.

3) Move the newly installed fonts from the /Users/username/library/font folder to the /Library/Fonts folder.

4) Delete the 'dofonts' file from MS 2004 folder.

5) Take the final snapshot and create the package.
