One would think it is totally possible to take a Mac, boot from the recovery partition, and pull down a brand new 10.8.2 image. Then make an OS DMG file in Composer or Super Duper.
This would be a brand new 10.8.2 base image (at the Mac OS X Welcome Screen).
Of course, no worries there.
Then use Casper Imaging to push this via NetBoot.
For some inexplicable reason, when I do this, this imaged Mac is not at the OS X Welcome screen, but at the user name and password OS X login screen.
How can this be, since it is a brand new OS X install, totally unconfigured.
If I use Super Duper from a FW drive or another volume, you get the Welcome screen.
Very odd.
Thanks again,
John

you have to check the box to allow the setup assistant to run if you use casper imaging, by default casper imaging places a .AppleSetupDone file on the imaged computer.
