Hey all,
I got a restricted software:
Display Name: Vuze
Process Name: Vuze
Send email notification on violation = True
(All others are un-Ticked)
Message: "You are soooo Busted!!!"
Scope: All Managed Clients, no Exclusions.
So the issues I am having is:
If Vuze is launched, the Message Box does pops up on the client correctly with the Message as written but no email on violation. As well, any subsequent launch of Vuze, the message box does not pop up again unless the Mac client laptop is rebooted. And then again, it only pops up once.
So it's seems like a one time deal.
I even tried to add a wild card after the Process Name. No change.
Getting the same results with uTorrent.
We don't kill the process nor delete cause we were told to make it very annoying for the end user.
In my previous 8.62 JSS, it worked like a charm! The message box would pop up every launch and would keep spawning the same message box over and over. I had one user left Vuze running over night. The next morning, he came up to IT very annoyed looking cause he got tired of pushing the Ok button after 30 times! Not to mention our inbox was flooded with hundreds of violations Haha, priceless!!!
To note:
The JSS's SMPT server is configured correctly and can send test mails to my email and our it group email.
There is only one user in the JSS with a valid email address. Type: Standard User, Access: Full Access, Privileges: Administrator
The JSS is version 9.24 on Ubuntu 12.04 and is a new install, not an upgrade of the 8.62 JSS.
Did I miss something? Has anyone experiencing this?
Need to test the Mavericks Installer Restriction. That frightens me! :)

Just rebooted and to confirm.
It seems to issue one dialog box once a Restricted app is launched and only once. When I click the OK button and relaunch Vuze or uTurrent the message box isn't presented again unless I reboot my Mac.
Thankfully, the Mavericks Installer restriction (Kills the Process and Message Box) is working but still no email on violation.

Aha!!!
Since I never logout from the JSS Web interface, cause it's always on my machine I never saw the link "Email Notifications" directly under "Change Password" and above "Log Out" links, to the left of the Gear Icon, until just now when I had to access my JSS from someone else machine and wanted to Log Out from their browser.
So, I have answered half of my question of the original post.
But I still have the issue that the Message Box only appears once unless that machine reboots.
I know my users and they will totally ignore it blindly press OK never reading the message. And they will keep using the software.
Gonna keep testing!
