Run Policies Overnight

I need a policy to run overnight. My users have been instructed to leave their computers open and plugged into power.

What is the best way to set this up? Do the computers have to be awake for the recurring check-in trigger to work?

Yes the computers need to be awake for recurring check in to be run.
Perhaps the simplest way to do it would be to use the client side limitations (Bottom of the General Pane) on the policy.
