Self Service & HTML

Hey Folks,

Although we've had simple HTML calls (<b>, <br>, <p>, <h3>, etc.) in
versions 6.x and 7.x of Casper's Self Service app, that supports seems to
have dropped in v8.21, is that correct? As of today, none of those calls are
working and I can't imbed a link either. On the other hand, pop a "plug-in"
into the left sidebar and shucks-n-be-garny! The self serve app is also a
web browser, able to handle and view HTML from most any website.

What am I missing here?

Annnnnnnnnd: discuss.

Hi David,
Yes that is a bug in Casper 8.21. Jamf is trying to fix it in a future
update.

Casper 8.22 appears to be on its way out the door from the JAMF folks. Maybe this will resolve that bug.

Can anyone who has updated to 8.22 confirm that HTML tags in descriptions are again recognized?

Hmm… And you're definitely using the 8.22 Self Service app as well?

That's disappointing… Then again, HTML in the description was never something that JAMF actually said was a feature, I guess.

What I don't get is that the application CLEARLY handles HTML just
fine as evidenced by using any webpage as a plug-in. I can surf
Apple's website to my heart's content in the new self service, but...
it won't pass my own HTML from the JSS to it's own application?

Meh.

I just checked with JAMF.

HTML support wasn't really intended to be there in the first place, and was deliberately removed with 8.2. It probably won't be coming back, due to security concerns.
