Server is busy and can't be closed?

I've just set up a new Mac Mini server for us to run the Apple Caching Service on. However now that I'm ready for it to be moved to its final location, I'm trying to quit Server.app and it says "Server is busy and can't be closed" and warns that configuration changes may be unsaved.

How do I deal with this without undoing the settings that I've set up for the caching service?

Thanks,

I come across this quite often. It's a tough one. Usually patience pays off.

Sometimes it really is doing some work and is just taking a long time to complete it. If you're on a spin drive then I would expect Server to be slow.

If however you've given it a good amount of time (like a half hour), I'd just force quit it. Caching service is cake to set up so I wouldn't worry much about that.

If you're running nothing but Caching server, I wouldn't worry too much about force quitting. It's when other services like Profile Manager etc are running that an ungraceful exit could lead to pain.

Back on the "patience grasshopper" thing with Server.app.

Tonight I updated one of my own servers - a 2010 Mac Pro with a 7200 RPM spin drive.

As usual when opening Server.app after applying the update the services needed to be upgraded. It sat on "Updating web service" for close to an hour. It finally finished successfully.

I really need to pop an SSD in this server.
