Setting Firefox Settings Using CCK of AutoConfig

Hello!

We are trying to deploy Firefox 51 (the only known browser to work with our time management system) to our Macbooks and are running into some snags. I'm using Composer to create the Firefox package but non of my settings are being saved in the package.

We need the browser to not auto update and the opening web page to be set to our time management system's homepage for our users.

However, the two methods that I'm using are just not working :

  1. CCK 2

I've read that a lot of people are using CCK 2 but I can find no modern tutorials on this. I create the autoconfig with CCK 2 but have no idea where to unzip the files within the Firefox.app package? I've read things about distribution folders that no longer exist and the like. I'm just totally hitting a roadblock with CCK 2.

  1. Creating my own auto config

I've also tried creating both the autoconfig.js and mozilla.cfg myself and placing them where other tutorials are telling me with no luck. There seems to be many different tutorials on how to lock down autoupdating and setting webbrowsers and then all give the specific paths on where to put the files. However, whenever I put the files (.js in the prefs folder and .cfg in the resources folder) none of the settings are used. I either get nothing or an error that says firefox needs to be put in the trash.

So I'm totally at a standstill and was wondering if anyone had any idea on what I could do?

I used the following guide from Alan Siu's site, So those settings plus a profile i think from Nick(Mcspadden) which worked for us. We wanted to block remember password, autofill etc, but found safari and chrome worked as profiles. Firefox needed too many moving pieces to get it done, so we pulled Firefox as an organization.
