Does anyone have a workflow to automatically set up students' gmail accounts on their ipads when they are deployed?

I'm not sure if you are asking about the profile or the scoping. This is for Google Apps for Education.

We have a Configuration Profile just for email (best practice - separate your profiles). It is Exchange ActiveSync, not gmail, and you can pre-fill the email address. See two attached pics.

It is scoped to All devices, Limited to student users based on what AD group they are in.

We use ADFS for authentication to Google Apps which has made using IMAP and ActiveSync a challenge. Our current work around is deploying a web clip with the URL below. We also encourage students to configure Gmail on their own in Settings > General > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Maybe someday we'll see the ability to configure a Google account via MDM.

@cdenesha - Brilliant. Works great! Thanks! One caveat - this will only load the main calendar. If you want to see the rest of the users' subscribed calendars, you'll want to do this.
