shift from jam.conf to com.jamfsoftware.jamf.plist

HI,
I just upgraded from 7.2.1 to 7.3.1. (skipping 7.3 due to bad timing :)
I am preparing a package to update Recon/SelfService on clients. I plan to
uninstall the previous version and then install new.
Wondering how I should handle the move from "jamf.conf" to
"com.jamfsoftware.jamf.plist"?
SelfService won't run without the new plist, so seems like I also need to
include the re-direct jamf.conf.
I'm wondering if this would prevent proper updating of the jamf binaries, o
if there are other reasons I should not do this....

OT re: Bad (but good) timing: Our Board of Ed did not approve our budget
until July 14th. Consequently we received 1,000 new Macs on July 24th, and
850 of those replaced teacher computers we had already moved or recycled (no
going back :), AND we added third party ram to every one!
Thanks to the Miracle of Casper and especially Pre-Stage imaging, We
finished the last setup on August 24th (two of us "gals", with 1 part time
third helper). Admittedly we had help in some places with hauling and
unboxing, but we did our share of that, as well as working around MANY
carpet installs and the usual cleaning and maintenance. It was a thing of
beauty!!

Thanks!

Not sure that I completely understand the conundrum, but I use the JSS and
Managed Preferences to manage even my JAMF preferences. Sounds a bit
self-feeding but so long as a machine is talking to the JSS then all my
preferences are set without me having to do anything.

We upgraded three groups in five sites around the world over a weekend
using PreStage Imaging and it worked very nicely. I was a bit intimidated
by the number of machines I would have to pre-stage, but being able to
duplicate PreStages made it very quick.
