Kyle Appel from JAMF answered this for me:

You must have a network account in order for this to work. Bind to AD or OD and log in as a network user for this to work.

One of the requirements for a User Level Configuration Profile to be deployed automatically by Casper is a network user account needs to be present on a machine which is in the scope of the profile.

This does not work perfectly well because the profile does not apply to a first network user who logs in for the very first time.

The work around it is to download the User Level Profile, package it up, install it using profiles command. Create policy which does it and applies to machines in the scope before the first user logs in.

In this case we are able to are able to force mobile accounts for network users to be created at first login.

@dzmudzki
Sorry to resurrect this, but I'm looking to get mobile accounts created at first login. I have a config profile to force mobile accounts. Imaging puts it in a hidden folder, and I have a script at first boot to install the config. It's not working. It's installing the config as a device profile, not user. The payload was created as a user profile. Not sure what's up.

Ideas?
