Workflow for replacing student iPads

We will be replacing approximately 900 student ipads this year.  Would anyone be willing to describe their workflow tips/processes for wiping the devices, deleting Jamf inventory records and releasing them from ASM?

thanks in advance.

With our 5th and 8th grade students whose devices we are recycling we have a collection day.  Students turn in devices wiped- at the Hello screen - so we can check for damage.  We check off those devices on a spreadsheet we export from Jamf.  That way we can also check in  bricks and cables and auto send invoices to parents. A few of those devices live on in another capacity so they are then marked on the spreadsheet as keepers.  We are smaller so we manually delete from Jamf.  There are always reasons why deleting by a smart or static group does not work for us. The spreadsheet gives us the list of serial numbers to remove en masse from ASM by copy/paste the list.
