Job Description:
The Mac Support Specialist works within the Information Technology department to assist in a variety of computer related activities and support pertaining to all Mac based computers and devices. They should have a high level of Mac technical experience as well as being well versed with MDM's such as JAMF, Meraki and InTune. They will be specialized in Apple Mac computer Support and JAMF Management. The position is responsible for implementing and supporting Apple systems and technologies that are owned by the college and managed by the JAMF MDM. This includes performing diagnostic tests to evaluate and isolate system problems and suggest suitable solutions. They should be able to assess system configuration and software so that hardware resources can be used effectively. The individual in this position is responsible ensuring that all desktops OS and applications are current, reliable, tuned, and accessible.
Responsibilities
- Implements, operates, and maintains software distribution and end-point client administration tools through on prem and JAMF Cloud server environments.
- Provide support for all Mac equipment, Apple Laptops, Workstations and Servers.
- Utilize JAMF Pro to ensure a standard version level of MacOS and applications across all Macs and devices
- Ensure managed devices comply with good security practices and relevant policies
- Develop, test and certify Mac OS (Monterey, Big Sur, Ventura and any future OS)
- Coordinate the build, test, and deployment of installer packages, application updates, and operating system updates.
- Create and maintain technical documentation as well as assist with training and related materials as needed; serve as a subject matter expert for escalated technical issues or complex use cases.
- Work with the Information Technology team to help diagnose and resolve helpdesk issues and ticket submissions.
- Conduct product evaluations and participate in the selection process
- Assist in tracking of IT hardware assets using our asset tracking system

Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience utilizing and maintaining enterprise management systems such as JAMF, and Active Directory.
- JAMF Pro 200 certification or above.
- Experience supporting MacOS across a range of versions.
- Experience supporting common MacOS applications such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office 365.
- Possess system knowledge in the areas of MacOS Imaging, Patching, System Certificates, and Active Directory authentication.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to details.
- Experience working with Terminal and creating /modifying Shell, Python, and AppleScript scripts to achieve automation and endpoint configuration.
- A minimum of 4 years of work-related experience. An equivalent combination of education/experience may also be considered.
- Must be well versed in dealing with staff and faculty that are both technical and non-technical.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Apple Certification such as Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT).
- JAMF 400 and above Certification.
- Experience with Nomad, JAMF Connect and JAMF Protect.
- Experience with Azure AD User, Group and License management, dynamic user and device groups, device categories, etc.
- Additional working knowledge of SCCM, InTune and Altiris.
