We going to be deploying iPads and will be creating a unique apple ID for each iPad. (used for VPP)Since these iPads are used by more than one person we would also like to create a Unique user account in JAMF that is not tied to LDAP for each iPad.Im not sure if I am missing something but I do not see an option in JAMF to add a User account, only JSS User Accounts.

We have some old white Macbooks running 10.7.5 and I need to update Safari on them. Because the computers are running 10.7.5 (no intention on upgrading the OSX at this stage since those MacBooks only have 2GB of memory) the latest Safari version I can get on them is 6.1.6 Using composer on a MacBook (started a normal snapshot, ran software update on the MacBook to upgrade to Safari 6.1.6 and finalized the snapshot) I created the package. Safari on the MacBook is upgraded to 6.1.6 however when I try to run the package locally on a different computer or try to deploy the package via Self Service, it doesn't update the version of Safari to 6.1.6 Wondering If I'm doing it right. Hi Jamf peeps, Has anyone got the SEP extension attribute working with the new version of SEP (12.1.4013) and JSS 9.63 or above? When I load the extension attribute into the inventory display no machines load, it just sits on a loading beachball. I have tried one or 2 other scripts but none seem to be reliable, some machines report correct and the majority do not although the beach balling stops. Anyone have a script or something I could try or maybe a few pointers?

Dear Casper Folks. Our default Apple QuickTime Package wont´t work anymore. Maybe, the problem is caused by some OS X security, gatekeeper, Xprotec or so update. But i can´t figure out. Hi, We are having difficulties with deploying Adobe Flash player update 16.0.0.305 and also MS Office updates. I have seen previous posts of copying the .app file from the Contents folder of the flash pkg and then launching that with a script however in this version of adobe it doesn't have .app under the MacOS folder. It has Install "Install Adobe Flash Player" terminal command. Is there a way to launch that? Is this something that we can use for MS Office updates as well? Command found for deploying adobe 11...sudo /Volumes/Flash Player/Install Adobe Flash Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Flash Player Install Manager -install Is there a guide that someone can point us toward? I might be missing something here but I have just gone ahead with the upgrade to v9.64 and can see in the release notes there is an update adding the ability to remotely set the wallpaper on iOS devices. We currently have just under 100 iPads on site here at a school and remotely setting the wallpaper to a pre-defined image would be ideal for student use. I know previously this was locked down by Apple. Has anyone managed to do this successfully yet, as I can't seem to find it.

Is it possible to put 2 different commands in the 'execute command' section of the payload 'files and processes'? I currently have an lpadmin -p ........ command in it and wanted to see if it was possible to also add an additional command such as jamf policy -trigger <triggername> would i need to separate the two with a comma, semicolon ?

With the current lack of categories for smart/static groups, I just wanted to see how others were organizing their groups in the JSS? Our list of smart/static groups has been rapidly increasing and we are finding that we have a lot of duplicate groups created by multiple admins. I would really love to clean this up and thought I would see what everyone else is doing to combat this. Since Casper Suite v9.5 and now with 9.6, a Self Service policy I've create to do a recon update via Maintenance > Update Inventory does not work. It goes through the motion but no new info is reported and no error is displayed to the user. The jamf log on the client indicates the policy, but no signs of a recon taking place in the JSS. As a work around, I've removed the Maintenance task and added the command "jamf recon" to Files and Processes > Execute Command. Anyone else offer a recon policy within Self Service that is not working?

I enable user initiated enrollment, made no changes to 'general' 'messaging' and 'access' tabs', but made changes in the 'platforms' tab Changes are:-- enabled user initiated enrollment for computers-- set mgmt username/password, create mgmt account, hide,ssh enable When doing URL enrollment from mbpro, I am asked to 'login to enroll device' so I login with a Site username/password, next page asks for 'assign to user', what do I put here? What user is it wanting to assign it to? A user account already on that mbpro? If I keep it blank and press the enroll button it goes to the next page 'download and install this package' I click the download button and the next page has the 'install the downloaded quick add.pkg' progress circle, but nothing downloads. running 9.64

I see constantly in jamf.log 'network state changed, checking for policies.... 'checking for policies triggered by network state change' my network state is not changing, what is causing this? whats considered a 'network state change'?

I manage a Site, JSS admin has setup check-in to occur every hour , Should I create separate printer drivers policies and place them in self service along with separate policies in self service to add the printers associated with those drivers?Thus the user would have to install the driver(s) first, then secondly install the printer(s) via self service. OR should I create one single policy for each printer, each policy installing the driver package and the printer, then put it in self service? Curious to hear others opinions and ways they deploy printers via policy. These are network printers.

Hello All, I'm in a bit of a predicament and seeking your advice. I would like to keep our environment of about 400 macs updated with Firefox as Mozilla releases updates. My goal is to update Firefox on each machine without losing everyone's personalized bookmarks. I am able to do this just fine, but I also want to customize the update to turn off "Update Notifications" popups. This is to prevent tens of help desk tickets from being submitted every time employees see the annoying "Update Available" pop up on their screens. I have been able to create a policy that disables the "Update Available" popup by using a snapshot in composer. However, by creating the snapshot, everyone's personal bookmarks are lost after deploying the new package. Does anyone know of a way to create a Firefox package without losing bookmarks, and disabling the "Update Available" notification?

I created a base OS for OS X.10 yosemite using AutoDMG. -- Setup a configuration-- target mode imaging-- target disk mode a mb pro-- connect mbpro to imac that is running Casper imaging-- after it finishes I remove the firewire 800 cable from mbpro and restart it. It then boots into the recovery HD (just like if i booted up and pressed Command + R) what is going on?just a simple configuration, with adobe flash, xerox printer drivers,

Does the script exit code: 0 mean that the policy was not applied? And does the script exit code: 1 mean that the policy was applied?

Hey all:I find smatterings in different discussions about this but I thought it would be nice to have a clean thread about this. With the Apple VPP for education, it is easy to assign apps to users but it doesn't appear to be support for assigning apps to shared desktops in a computer lab environment. What is the best practice for this? Download the app and package it and just push it out? and do that for each time there is an app store app update? That seems to be a rather cumbersome way of doing it.

But still i can't image from my JDS instance, we get the following error;--There was an error.
