Anybody else missing the latest Safari on their NetSUS? I have all of the other updates from yesterday, just not Safari...

Not sure if I'm overlooking anything obvious here... Is there an easy way to fill the "room"information in the (8.52) JSS? I can search and find my lab of machines and then choose "Take Action on Results" and put in the department, building, servers etc but not the room. Seems useful for lab environments.

I'm running into an odd issue I can't figure out with a script I'm working on. You know how you can assign parameters in a policy (or Casper Remote) to $4 through $11 to pass back to the script? Well, it seems anything past $9 does not get properly assigned, no matter what I do or try.I started running into strange behavior with the script and set up a 'debug' version that echoed back the assignments. What I see is that $4 through $9 are perfectly assigned, and $10 $11 echo back as /0 /1. In other words, its ignoring the double digit and using the 0 and 1 last characters from the parameter. This fouls up the script since its assigning bad information into the variables for the script. Does anyone know how to get around this? Is this just a bug in Casper or an issue with bash scripts in general? I've never seen this before because honestly I've never had a need to assign more than one or two parameters in a script, but in this case I want to use all o

The error message I get is "Installation failed. The installer reported: installer: Error the package path specified was invalid: '/Library/Application Support/JAMF/Downloads/packagename.pkg' I have done searches and found one or two that sound similar but say something like 'fixed the http flag and that solved my problem' but offer no explanation about what they fixed.

Hey JAMFs. I don't get the apps ratings within JSS MDM. This is in profile configuration, restrictions category, under Media tab. What do "4+", "9+", "12+" et c. mean? E.g. does 9+ mean for age 9 and over? I'm looking for something like "4 and under", "9 and under" et c. NOT 9 AND OVER!

I am a little frustrated with Casper because you cant make a smart group ignore another smart group. How are people getting around this to make exemption groups? Dummy packages?

Is it possible to get the NetBoot/SUS appliance in a VMWare VMX format instead of OVA? Or does anyone perhaps know of a tool that can convert it? Thanks!

Hi, I am new the Casper and Lion server. I created a 10.6.8 netboot image. I uploaed it to our 10.7.4 Netboot server. When I open the System Image Utility it fails to locate the mounted 10.6.8 dmg file. Message in SIU is "Invalid source volume found". I have read that you cannot share a 10.6.8 image on a 10.7.4 Netboot server. Is this true? Any assistance is appreciated.

Another thing I see broken is the option "Display status to user during login and logout". I am not getting the pop up messages anymore updating the status of policies running. They are running but the message is not working.

Has anybody got Mountain Lion downloaded and confirmed the ability to block it? Can you post the tag you used in "Restricted Software" for those of us who are waiting forever on overloaded servers! Thanks!

Has anyone set these up to enable netbooting across subnets without a bless command? I'd like to get these set up but don't know enough about it. A key piece of info may be that our DHCP and Netboot server are different boxes. Not sure if this precludes me from going this route. Thanks!

I am having an issue with casper admins progress bar freezing/stopping when I replicate our internal JSS to our external JSS since our update to 8.6 Anyone else seeing this issue?

Hey Guys,I have a heap of 10.6.8 machines that I'm looking at upgrading to Lion as easy as possible for my Tech team. which the Lion NetInstall has proved fantasic... BUT the issue is that the majority of the machines have been created with a dual partition with a secondary "Data" partition with the users profile. When the netinstall installs lion, it creates the Recovery partition, and when booted, and when logged in for the first time, the users home drive is freshly created in the recovery partition, rather than using the previous "data" partition users folders. have spent the last couple nights trying to fix this up with the remove recovery partition script without luck so far... Have any of you encountered this issue? or know how I can rectify this? I believe its an issue how the previous Casper tech setup the partitioning... i have tried creating NetInstalls with the "include Recovery Partition" unchecked in System Image utility, which ha

I just installed 8.6 in my dev environment, and i can't seem to enable User-initiated enrollment. The options don't show up in the management framework settings anywhere. I just don't have the "Enrollment Process" tab at all in Computer Management Framework Settings. Anyone have any ideas how to enable this?

I am looking in the policy log but it does not seem to show who edited it last. Is there anywhere to find this?

Hi JAMF Folks, We just got in some shiny new MBPs. We attempted to netboot one of these to a 10.7.4 netboot image and the unit never boots (just hangs at the gray apple). The interesting thing is that the machine itself is running 10.7.3. I'm guessing that this some build specific issue. We managed to sneak our image onto one computer via another machine and target disk mode. This image is 10.7.4. The computer will not boot the image, we get the "slash" symbol on the screen. Anyone seeing this or found a solution? I am grateful for any feedback. Best,JW

I have a number of printers which I recently added via Casper Admin. When I create a smart group to identify computers missing the printer, the list is quite different. If I use remote or create a policy they are all right. It only appears to be a problem for Smart Groups accessing Mapped Printers receipts.

I have a JSS server with a distribution point sitting in once city and want to have another synced to this one sitting in another city. But I want the users of each city to use only the server from each city.is there an easy way to do this? Also any policy to run the sync at certain time?thanks Carmelo

My ordinal DP was on a Mac server and the new DP is on a Win 2008 box. When I try to replicate the DP it says the server could not me mounted and sends me in the direction of an unhelpful log file. Has anyone else had this problem? I've checked my share on the Windows server and that is working fine.

thus far, we've had only one problem in running InstallLion.pkg via self service or by policy: although it does, indeed, update macs from 10.6.8 to 10.7.4, the problem (as some of you have already experienced) is that apple's installer deletes any local, hidden accounts on the mac in question when updating to lion. and, in our case, the local casper mgmt account on each machine is one of those hidden accounts. this means that once a mac has been updated to 10.7.x via that mechanism, i can no longer run any other capser policies. and that, in turn, means i have to find a way around this issue. my first attempts were to create a firstboot script that puts back the deleted admin account but... i'm having problems. our script/agent which runs from it's location in /Library/LaunchAgents is failing with permission errors. and this, even though both the script and the agent are owned by root:wheel and set to permissions of 644. how are you folks dealing with this issue

Hi Guys, I know a lot has already been said on this but I am at a complete brick wall. I created a master collection installer from aamee. I followed the jamf paper on this. When running via policy it fails and tells me to contact the developer. I see people are getting mixed results on this subject. I know of users who deploy with no issues at all. Any new ideas or help would be appreciated. I have tried reading all the posts on the jamf nation but nothing has helped. Thanks Daniel

When I log into the JSS I am greeted with this message Your web server certificate expires in 19 days. I thought I could go to Settings -> Global Management Framework Settings -> Public Key Infrastructure and renew it. I'm not seeing the option there. The old certificate was generated by the JSS. How can I renew it? BTW we are not using Certificate-Based Communication in Settings -> Computer Management Framework Settings -> Security. So I don't know that an expired certificate will be any problem. Thanks,-- jmca
